Boredom sat in this weekend, so I watched Pittman, Briles, and Odom's signing day pressers about this year's class.

Pitt basically said they got the majority of the guys they wanted, or guys had been committed and never wavered. He didn't seem too concerned about the instate guys who he didn't sign (even tho the media was). Seems his priority was size on the lines and speed every where else, feels like they did the best the could given the circumstances (no visitors since March, taking over a shite program, etc).

Briles sounded like he got what he wanted for offense, more speed, more guys who can play multiple positions, trying to correct the o line.

Odom sounded like he's using the same strategy he did at Memphis and Mizzou (why wouldn't he?) not concerned about a guy playing a specific position in the sense that a safety may bulk up to a LB, corner, to safety, needs more size and numbers on d-line. Probably the best approach for Arkansas on this side of the ball, recruit speed and size develop and coach and figure out where to put them on the field from there.

So during the play of videos on YT, the same type of presser as Pitt gave (Briles and Odom were RSN interviews) was qued up for Kiffin and Leech, given the interest of these two by hog fans, I let them play and watched them.

Complete contrast in staffs/pressers. Pitt gave insight and hints that they know the roster's weaknesses and needs and that one class isn't going to fix it all (Thanks Chad).

Kiffin gave little insight as to why the signed who they did, it was all about how he wanted commits to remain silent, wanted a few to remain publicly committed to other schools (ms. state), the uniform combinations and offensive style is/was huge in his recruiting, in one of the videos he's wearing a shirt with "merry flipmas". Kif is still very much immature, when asked about the Auburn job his answer was quoting Saban while he was with Miami and asked about the Bama job. Outside of his offense he has all the traits of every coach Arkansas fan's have loathed during my lifetime.

Leech's presser consisted of him reciting the list of names, heights, weight, and High Schools. Most of the names you could tell he didn't really have a clue who they were or could put a name with a face. Sure most HC's leave it to their staff's for the bulk of the recruiting when they are managing the offense or defense, but they can also put the effort to at least pretend they are involved or care about recruiting. The line that stuck out to me was when asked about the o-line issues of this year and if he felt the addressed their o-line needs, he answers with you sign as many tackles as you can get and then play the best 5. Watching his presser it's no wonder why his teams are so inconsistent and he's never won anything after being a P5 HC for so long.

While they were interviews and not pressers, Briles and Odom both were more professional and had better answers and insight than these two. Arkansas isn't the only school obsessed with where instate players go or where the players in the class are coming from geographically. Leech was feeding them Texas and the reporters were eating it up as a great accomplishment. Pitt talked about spreading out and using their ties and connections in Oklahoma and Georgia while still putting effort in the usual places. I should probably try to find Gundy's presser to see if he was asked about the 8 leaving the state for Arkansas, considering these 8 are normally the type of players he would have out on the field.

SC and Auburn's showed that yes, it is possible to frick up the ESD worst than Arkansas did with the firing of Bert and Long. It'll be interesting to see if Gus goes after a G5 job, P5 OC position, or comes back to Fort Fresh to sell insurance.

Gus won’t have to sell insurance. He could move back to Arkansas and live anywhere he wanted or stay in Alabama. If he moves here, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in politics.

Now go back and reference similar commentary for Bama, OU, AtM, UGA, UNC, Maryland, etc.

What are the coaches for programs that aren't a current circus saying about their classes...

Mack Brown has essentially told the NCAA to frick themselves with their interest in UNC, and has quickly put together recruiting that's making them a contender.

Because this is Boozmans last go, and he could easily fill the Republican spot. Would prefer someone else, but I can see it happening.
