the last words I said, is exactly what I expect...

JL will keep us clueless until the last seconds.

Or, he will be pushed and then begin his decent as AD.

He has to have the power or he will not survive overall. He has been given almost cart blanche here since the beginning.

Good Lord folks, it doesn't take a genius to see that if Malzahn can only achieve what he has at Auburn with a much better recruiting base and higher expectations that we have here.. .how in the name of Beelzebub would he achieve the same or more with a lesser recruiting base and lesser expectations.

Please let go of the fricking moronic rope.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I'm not sure what makes people so confident he'd win here any better than his 7-5 or 8-4 average at AU when we face the same competition, with less stars on our roster. It would be one thing if we couldn't get any better, but we easily, easily can.

as for Leach... Razorbronks and I have different folks we get info from. Late last night I was told that Leaches rep was contacted by some of our BOT, NOT LONG... and that following that conversation, Long was brought in with some major doubts about going that direction, as were others.

Sounds like we're hearing about the same, maybe filtered through each contact with a little of their personal bias/wishes thrown in like usual

RazorBroncs... don't you think that this is mostly misinformation to do what Long does?

I do... I really don't think any of us have a clue. As I said in another thread. I heart we were getting Petino about a day prior to it happening and I refused to believe it, so I didn't post it on HST...

I would have looked like a dang genius, but nope... Never believed it. Was told by a friend in Nashville who works with Baseball. It didn't add up. He is a rep for speakers/players and past pros etc...

Not really.

It's a simple as there are several different "camps" right now, "their guy" is being contacted Long's "guys" are being contacted. Through the process of elimination and compromise Long will again have to get the camps in his favor out numbering Gus's "guys".

Shouldn't be too hard as the most powerful and influential want nothing to do with him, but if it back fires on long because of who is "his guy" the your going to see him leave after the committee to search the plains high and low to find a replacement is announced.

The worst part about hiring Gus would be the job security he's demanding, it pales into comparison of Bert's reported and Nutt's actual golden parachutes. Gus's will have him easing into a nice retirement money wise.

A lot of chatter when we've got plenty more games to lose.

I'm fully prepared for an underwhelming hire.

Probably Gus but Leach doesn't do it for me. Too risky.

I've thought it's possible from the jump, seeing as how I was googling Bret Bielema about 3 hours before he was officially announced

Long is very good about keeping this stuff close to the vest, but (just my opinion) I think he will and has been leaning on his confidants more with this one for a couple reasons. One, his last two "close to the vest" hires haven't exactly worked out; and two, in the event this one goes badly the blame falls on numerous people instead of him solely.

So basically he is scum trying to frick us with a buyout we would have to pay because he couldn't get the job done and he knows it.

I love the Kiffin idea so much, but I also don't know how much he emphasizes a lot of those things. If Saban rubbed off on him enough, then absolutely bring him in.

You Kiffin people have got to be shitting me with this "Saban rubbed off now him" and "he's matured" ridiculousness. He was fricking fired the week before the National Championship game. He's thrown potshots at Saban on twitter up to and including last week. He got publicly berated by Saban last year for blaming players for a bad play call. He completely shite the bed as the head coach of a blue blood, and his team was literally fighting in the locker room by the end of his tenure.

Just stop it with this tardville delusion about Kiffin growing up. He's always been an immature pompous arse and he always will be.

I imagine ego plays into that too. Goes from basically being ran off to having people promise wheel barrows full of cash to sign on.

Total prick.

You mean two blue bloods.

Cannot believe anyone would suggest that little fricker for our job.

As much as I love me some freshwater. Not at Arkansas. It would be a disaster. Worst possible fit and guy that has been thrown out there.

Nutt would probably be a better choice.

Hey you said something in your first post that I'm surprised nobody has asked you but what did you mean by Long thinking this is a much better job because of what bob stoops said?

Basically I'm curious what Stoops said...

stoops said "Arkansas is big time, and it is a big game"

Hence his nickname...

I'm not sure specifically if stoops made him think it was a better job. He probably told him something that makes him believe he needs to have a damn good hire or it will back fire completely

This is more what I'm gathering, and that UA has the financial and facilitative means to attract top-tier IF it's sold the right way. Basically he better land the right guy because there's zero excuse not to.

Maybe he said, "you know what, Jeff, I'm done being a head coach, or even a coordinator, but if you hire my brother away from Kentucky, Venables will be your DC and I'll be an analyst."
