thanks missy for the info. i'm bookmarking your post!!!

i have not been to dooky chase but i love fried bird and soul food. last time we were there we went some place in the quarter that seems like it was a guys name like chip or something- had great fried chicken and i got some rabbit and something jambalaya or something like that. i just know i ate rabbit.

always heard of commander's of course but have never been there- may try to talk everyone into that this time.

i love the muffaletta at central grocery.

and oh i'll be having some beignets and chicory for sure too.

we did a bus tour last time that was very interesting- showed a lot of the charm and history of nola along with the devastation from katrina. i bet we'll do something similar this time too.

Yep, but noisy

Other favorites:
Dante's Kitchen
Domenica
Casamento's
Surrey's Cafe & Juice Bar (amazing breakfast and juice - cash only)
Port of Call
Domilise's (Parkway gets higher ratings, but I haven't made it there yet)

And, for heaven's sake - get out of the Quarter at least a couple of times!

Have fun! If we hadn't just gone in December, we'd be there for Mardi Gras.

Two more that are in the Quarter: Louisiana Bistro and Muriel's. The hardest part is deciding where to eat!

that's true- i have a feeling i'll come back home and actually be looking forward to not drinking and eating light. that will probably last a few days then i'll be fantasizing about what i ate the in nola again.

Oh, damn, I forgot about that. That just happened a few months ago, didn't it? Such a shame. Big NO tradition. We always went for brunch, but got the bananas foster every time for dessert - the best I've ever tasted.

I like Willie Mae's Scotch House, as well, but something about Dooky Chase is just so unique. Love Miss Leah. I have a couple of her cookbooks, and have really enjoyed preparing her recipes.

I enjoy Domenica & Port of Call, too.

Ditto on this.
I really enjoy just wandering around Magazine St., but normally do that in the Spring & Fall. Love the little shops & the atmosphere. Very laid back.

stay away from the barely legal club...

Should be against the law to impersonate a young girl for sexual exploitation...
