First of all, what did you all expect after you ran off his coordinators after a 9 win season and back to back bowl wins? He has all new coordinators. Hunter won’t fire Pittman this season, so y’all better buckle up and support these kids.

Valid reason to fire him now

7.9 million retention bonus paid out twice over the next 5 years

If fired for sucking he gets his winning % of the money.

Right now he’s at 58%

A massive losing season lowers it even more.

If he goes 4-8 this year it’s down to around 52%

52% is around 4.1 million

Pretty cheap buyout

Next year the gauntlet gets harder and there will be zero confidence from the fan base which will crush ticket sales.

Hunter has to make a move this year or risk losing way more than 4 million dollars.

Here is the real numbers

$17.5M if we fire him this year…
$10M if we fire him next year…

Incorrect, his buyout depends on his record. It's $10.5M this year if below .500.

Just what I heard on a podcast. Maybe they didn’t do their numbers right.

I posted it in the other thread.

quote:

Pittman has the rare performance-based buyout. If fired without cause, he’s owed 75% of his remaining contract. However, if Pittman’s record is below .500 when he’s fired, he’s only owed 50% of his remaining contract.

Pittman is currently 21-18 as Arkansas’ head coach. Per the terms of his incentive-heavy extension that was signed after the 2021 season, Pittman’s 7-win season in 2022 meant that he got an extra year added and a $250,000 bump to $5.25 million annually through the 2027 season. That means after the 2023 season, he has $21 million remaining on his deal. If his total record at Arkansas is below .500 at season’s end, his buyout is a very affordable $10.5 million. He would have to finish 4-8 or worse this season to fall below .500. If Pittman’s Arkansas record is at or above .500 at season’s end, his buyout would be $15.75 million.

In other words, 1 game could have a $5.25 million difference in Pittman’s buyout. That could absolutely impact Yurachek’s decision if that’s indeed one he has to make.

This was prior to LSU game so his record is 21-20 now.

If he goes winless in the SEC then he is gone.
