I admit it would be a majorly unfounded coup to steal him from AU right after he won a championship and the trolling would be glorious, plus it would make me feel a little better given the recruiting boost from JUST winning a championship. It would certainly shock the football world and make Arkansas the talk of the nation for a big coaching hire yet again, which will help with recruiting but ratchet up the pressure a million times. I just don't know what to think.

He wins a natty, and comes here, he will make arkansas recruit at a level we have never seen. It won't be like when Ford was here past his prime. We will have the most recent NC coach, one of only 5 current sitting head coaches to have won one. It would be a bigger hire than jimbo. It would literally shock everyone and it would raise our national profile immediately.

It is possible that the initial recruiting bump it would give us could allow us to build a real defense here.

The only issue is this recruiting class would set him back 2 years with only like 5 commits.

Auburn would hire lane if Gus comes. That would be epic.

This board is frickin hilarious.

I have two threads on the first page and in one thread people are telling me it is pointless to try and build a defense because we can't recruit. In the other people are saying that Gus will have a chance to replicate his success here because he WILL BE ABLE to recruit.

It's like a crazy place.

No. According to group think well established on this very board, Gus will average fewer wins here than he does at Auburn. And his record at Auburn has almost gotten him fired half a dozen times.

I said if he wins a natty and then comes. Anything less and I'm not sure he can do it.

The hiring of Gus Malzahn is almost guaranteed to grade out as a failure.

And it's easy to see.

I'm not 100% on the Gus Bus, but I'll play along just for fun.

He's a "name coach" immediately. He'd have no issues recruiting. He loves NWA. He will have ever resource at his disposal.

Would he ever be able to win the SEC here? I don't know. In the world of Saban, chances don't come along very often. I know he'd be able to beat A&M and Mississippi State. I mean, frick, that's how far our bar for success has fallen since the motorcyle wreck.

At a minimum, his teams would be fun to watch, compared to the shitshow we've been subjected to the past 5 years.

No, I doubt he likes Gus either. But what he does like is Auburn football and he, along with the other players down there, know that Gus is good for Auburn football.

Gus is on firm ground with Auburn win or lose this weekend. Those were his exact words. Auburn will throw more money at Malzahn soon and Malzahn will stay there.

I think it's great the Arkansas guy is doing well down there. I hope he stays down there til he retires.

Also, I'm pretty sure you could fill a frickin encyclopedia with names of people who don't like Malzahn. He ISNT LIKABLE. He is about as interesting as a frickin root canal. He is shady AF. He is an a-hole. He is a narcissist. Etc. I could go on

Yaaaassssss, let the Gus hate flow through you Ed.

I hope he stays at AU and we get Kiffin, who realizes that half of this state is hung up on Gus and begins trolling the shite out of him and AU.

Do you think Kiffin is a realistic option?

Because Kiffin is none of those

Those are damn near requirements for being a successful coach.

Yeah, I'd prefer our coach to be an a-hole. Most good coaches are.

I would take kiffen over the bus any day....

Until he wins the bigger games, it would be entertaining.. when he wins a big game, it would be a party like we have not seen.

If he loses more than he should, the going away scene would be tremendous.

What do we have to lose?

all seriousness. he is a younger, innovative, offensive minded, intelligent, social media savvy, recruiting machine.

Let that flow through you a bit!
