Agreed. Screw the RPI. We play in the toughest conference in college baseball and can only play who is in front of us. We’ve lost 2 series all year long, both by 1 run on Sunday.

18 wins is the minimum for a top seed. Sweep the next two series and if Tennessee implodes then it will get interesting.

I don’t mean overall seed I just meant top 8. The top seed is locked up by the vols this season

Go 6-0, I don't see how you not put Arkansas as a top 4 as they would be red hot going to Hoover.

This RPI discussion is pure bull shite. How in the flying damn hell could we not be a Top 8 seed by playing an SEC schedule and (up to this point) only lose two series?
If we finish the season by winning the west, there's no way in blue hell that we would be hosed out of a Top 8 seed. Right?
For the record, I don't think we will do much even if we get to Omaha, BUT you can never tell. We've been saying all season that if we ever figure ourselves out offensively, then watch out. Hell, who knows, we may figure things out in the post season.

We need to win 4 out of the last 6. That puts us at 20-10 in the conference. Every team that has won 20 sec games has been a national seed.

Don't need to sweep, just win each series.

20 wins in the SEC will get a top 8 seed, but there is no room for error down the stretch.
RPI for baseball is starting to show signs of issues, much like the NET did this past year in basketball.
Vanderbilt is #4 in RPI after this weekend. Vandy is 12-12 in league play and 4-4 in league series.

Maryland jumped 12 spots today. Maryland, who is 2-4 against Q1 teams. Has the 132nd SOS.

Get to 20 wins and its automatic IMO. Cant win the west, but do it limping to the finish line by losing a series at Bama.

I know but that is when the discussion becomes more serious.
Posted on 5/8/22 at 8:02 pm to Hawgeye
I think 19 wins still gets us there, but could easily be a 9-10 seed too... Depends on what everyone else does
Posted on 5/8/22 at 8:12 pm to cubsfan5150
19-11 should do it but I don't see how they would leave Arkansas out at that record especially if they win the west and finish second in the SEC. Sometimes the eye test is better than what a bunch of stats say they are. As of right now in the west, Arkansas is more deserving of a national seed because they are consistently good and take care of business when they are faced with a challenge.

This.
Winning both of the remaining series 2-1 gets us to 20 wins, which would likely get us a top 8 seed.
LSU and A&M both have an outside shot but they’d have to seep both of their remaining series which is very hard to do in this league. LSU closes with Ole Miss and Vandy, and A&M closes with State and Ole Miss.
While not exactly a Murderers Row, State is fighting to make Hoover, Ole Miss is one of the best hitting teams in the SEC, and Vandy is always good and well coached.

How about Arkansas sweeps Vandy but just wins one game against Bama. Do you think they would be left out?
Posted on 5/8/22 at 8:27 pm to Feral
No team in the SEC is truly bad if so then Kentucky couldn't take 2/3 from Tennessee.

No chance. That means we lose one of the final two series. Arkansas ends up at 19 wins then the seeding is below 9.

Expecting or hoping for a sweep in this league is just setting yourself up for disappointment.
If Arkansas loses the Alabama series there’s absolutely no chance in hell to be a top 8 seed.
