Oof.

This isn’t about injuries/Catalon in my opinion. It’s about the D line

Everyone will blame it on the D based on the numbers while discounting the fact that the offense did not take a step forward with far more experience and with the exception of losing Burks, more total talent than we had last year.

Both sides took a step back in YPP, but the defense gave up nearly a yard per play more this season and that’s with an increase of 1 full sack per game

You seeing all that and still blaming the offense, means you had your mind made up and nothing was going to change it.

Also why we will always have mediocrity, because 3/4 of the fan base thinks just like you, but injuries, offense didn’t stay on field long enough, I hate briars… etc

the offensive line sucked. I count repeat this enough. It doesn’t matter what the play call is or who the guys in the backfield are if the offensive line is horrible and they were multiple times this year

I guess you can count me in that group. Defense gave up 16 to aTm, 21 to Liberty, and I think less than that to LSU. That’s 3 of our 6 losses. If the offense had their shite together, we are sitting at 9-3 right now.

With a shite offensive line, we had the same stats, imagine if it had been just average or above average?

But totally not the defenses fault, that got remarkably worse.

A bunch of words typed yet you fail to show me where I’m wrong.

Did the offense take a step forward at all this season? The answer is no.

I mentioned the step back that the defense took in my very next post, yet you failed to even acknowledge it.

Who has their mind made up again?

well the playcalling didn’t beat us against Texas A&M. We lost that game due to our star player fumbling on first and goal and giving up a 98 yard scoop and score. The other two games I’ll give you. One where our starting qb didn’t practice all week and played hurt and the other he didn’t play at all.

The fumble that happened in the second quarter that left A&M still down by a point?

Putting up 7 pts in 3 quarters had nothing to do with playcalling?

It was a fricking 14 point swing. It was a giant momentum killer. Go look at the winning percentage odds before and after that play

Briles was by no means great during the A&M game

He may not have been great but he wasn’t THE reason we lost. It gets old saying the same thing, but it’s just facts. He’s not the best play caller in the country, but he is a top 15/20 OC. Objectively people from outside the Arkansas fan base will tell you that. The biggest issue our offense had, and in plagued us all season, was shitty shitty offensive line play, with a ton of veterans coming back. The fact we can’t just punch it in against mizzou or lsu is disheartening. I promise you, as dumb as the tight end sneak was, briles still wouldn’t have called it if he thought he could’ve called a simple inside zone to rocket or kj and scored. By the end of the season he had completely lost any faith in our line getting any semblance of a push. That’s not on the play caller or his scheme. That falls squarely on the offensive line coaches shoulders.

Part of Briles’ job is to ensure that the center or qb get us into the right blocking scheme and teaching the qb when to hand the ball off when we have numbers and to pass when we don’t. We were bad at both this season.

I can’t even count the times that we outnumbered the defense in the box and didn’t run on early downs or had an advantage on a bunch set and still ran the ball.

Who should we target as a new OC? You think traylor would come back? I’m being serious I just don’t even see any better OCs we could go after

Not sure who we could get that’s better. Briles just has to be better.

Other than the dumbass Knox sneak, I don’t remember many super head scratching play calls after the A&M game when KJ was playing, so maybe he’s learning.

Another knock is not having a backup qb that’s even remotely close to being rdy to play.

I honestly believe both coordinators are capable if they can start recruiting better players.

Wait so he called the Knox sneak even though KJ has 7 rush TDs and weighs 240?

Just admit you love the finger tape.
