I've lived in Arkansas for 7 years and over the past few years I've noticed a hatred or rivalry between NWA and Little Rock. I'm just curious, why is there so much bitterness?

They hate us because they want to be us.

Answer depends on when you're asking.

The great stadium debate (DWRRS vs WMS) has spilled over into area debate.

I assumed that had a lot to do with it but I wasn't sure.

I think it's just retarded. Both areas are fatastic places to live or visit.

I don't recall a good GSD on this board though. Even as a lurker. Would love to see a poll on it.

I've lived in central Ark for 15 yrs and lived in Fayetteville for undergrad and grad school. There's really no debate here. Not even sure why it's a 'thing.' Other than family or a kick arse job who in their right mind would rather live in LR than Bentonville/Fayetteville? Answer is no one.

Oh, we've had them.

They're just not too bad because most of the non-NWA people on this board realize that WMS's time is up. What's the use in arguing about it?

My husband has zero desire to live in NWA. Now, I suppose one could argue he's not in his right mind.

They're both great in their own ways. People act like LR is Syria. I've been making trips to LR all my life and I'm 45 years old and I've never once been scared. Don't hang in the hood and more than likely you'll enjoy it.

LR people are usually tied to LR. Whether it be family, money, vicinity to duckhunting, etc.

NWA people tend to like the outdoors, arts, amazing beers, and hogs. I would literally never be bored living in NWA again. Central Arkansas is boring as frick.

This. Unless you grew up there, no one chooses LR over NWA. A lot of my friends from college moved back b/c it's their home, but I'd never move there unless the money was substantial better, and I mean like 30-50k more a year.

Little Rock has its fare share of legit breweries. Lost40, Rebel Kettle, and Flyway are all legit AF. Your other points stand, though. Some people do prefer a more urban environment, though, and Little Rock has that.

I'm from Conway and moved to Fayetteville for undergrad in the mid 90s. I've lived here on and off ever since then. I used to heap scorn on all of central Arkansas and never thought I could live there. One of my best friends live in LR now, though, and I really enjoy going down there. I'm still not sure I'd actually WANT to live there, but I do enjoy it and can see the appeal.

I know it's no Crystal Bridges, but the Arkansas Art Center is not too shabby. We also have the AR Symphony, AR Ballet, The Rep, Robinson, several community theaters and lots of small art galleries in the downtown, Hillcrest and Heights.

NWA has the Hogs and better access to some outdoor activities. I'd say the other two are a wash.

I also find it interesting that all the Central AR people here are like, "I don't hate NWA. It's got good things going for it," while some of the NWA folks are "LITTLE ROCK SUCKS! Someone would have to be out of their MIND to live there!"

Y'all want to complain? Try living in Fort Smith. Get back to me then. #neveragain

Hey now! I work in Fort Smith. It has its own unique charm and character. I sometimes feel like I'm in an episode of the Wire.

Once my stepmom moves out/dies, I'll eventually have a house to sell in the Fort. I'm soooooooo looking forward to that $50k.

It boils down to two things: the civil war and the great stadium debate

The latter being the more deadly and regrettable of the two
