Jamario Bell, whose career as an Arkansas football defensive lineman ended Friday, has joined the Razorbacks’ basketball team as a walk-on, coach Eric Musselman announced Saturday.
A standout at Junction City High School, Bell was a second team All-Arkansas selection in basketball by USA Today in 2015. He was also named all-state two times and led the Dragons to two state championship games.
Bell, who finished the 2019 football season with 17 tackles and 4.5 sacks, will wear basketball jersey No. 14, according to a release.
Former Razorbacks football players to join the basketball team include Matt Jones, Joe Dean Davenport, Brandon Mitchell and Marcus Monk. At 6-5, 265 pounds, according to Arkansas' football roster, Bell provides physicality and another interior presence to a thin, undersized frontline. Bell was seen warming up inside Bud Walton Arena this afternoon ahead of the Razorback's game against Northern Kentucky, which tips off at 4 p.m.

With Mason Jones out we don't really have anyone who looks to create their own points -- and consistently gets them.

He's gonna need to today or we may be in trouble.
Northern Kentucky has only been a division 1 team for 4 years and has already been to the NCAAt twice. These guys are good.
ETA: I guess I should note that Jimmy Whitt looks to create a lot. He's all over the court right now. Need a big game out of him today.
