I’m starting to see reports on Twitter that the budget for assistants is about 5 million.

I would like to see a stud OC and DC, that should be 2-3 million there.

The total pool is 8-10 depending on who is hired.

He took 3 which leaves 5 unless a big name(s) is brought forward in which more can and will be added.

Example, We can under pay Odom and let Mizzou make up the difference for us depending on how his contract is worded.

We payed Pelphrey to coach at Florida. We were paying Bert to coach the Patriots.

Yeah Odom would be a good pick since we can pay him the minimum to meet his buyout requirements with mizzou and have them make up the rest of his salary.

Yurachek said rougly 5 million but I'd guess more around 6 million depending on how much is freed from past coaches (Morris, Traylor etc.) gaining employment.

Ole Miss is paying 5.3 million for 10 assistants

Also - someone correct me if I'm wrong - I've heard that Mizzou is in debt and having to use school funds to pay Drink and his staff's salary?

With no insult intended to our neighbors in the North their AD has been in bad shape for a while. Attendance has been lagging in recent years and they've been in the red for the first time since joining the conference.

Add to that the bowl ban prevents them from getting their 10 million dollar slice of the SEC bowl revenue pie and... things are not coming up roses for them at the moment.

How can Missouri be broke? Seems absurd to me

Didn't enrollment drop for several years after all those protests?

Edit: 2019 saw enrollment +1% , first time it rose since the 2015 protests. Also I bet the influx of SJW's don't attend football games

The stadium expansion has put a big crimp in their income. Mizzou makes around 100 million a year for their athletics.

Well paying off part of the construction costs last year nudged them into the red. This year they will make 10 million less than they did last year but their expenses will be the same... plus they are going to have to pay buyouts and pick up the tab for the new coaching staff.

We are lucky in that our donors, for all they gripe and sometimes force us to hire shitty coaches, do have deep pockets.

The more I think about it and look at the numbers, the more I realize this is going to be a total
Disaster.

You could say this for any of the SEC hires this cycle. It’s obvious the candidate pool wasn’t as deep as we all thought

Mizzou is paying $4M a year to a guy who has 1 year of HC experience and walked into a fantastic situation at App State, and is 9 years removed from being a QC guy. The main reason our talks fell apart was the buyout protection he was demanding.

Pittman might work out and he might not, but it sure as hell isn't going to break us financially if it doesn’t.

Not sure about disaster but you do have to question our commitment to winning. Seems like our AD is more concerned with getting favorable contracts than the best possible coach and staff.

Good. We don't need any coaches who aren't confident they can stay above .500

I'm glad we have someone who wants to be here as opposed to someone who is only here for an easy paycheck and a buyout after tanking for a few seasons.

Hopefully that passion will translate to success on the field.

It wasn't too long ago they were talking about bulldozing dorms at Mizzou because they were sitting empty. They're broke because enrollment plunged like 35% over the whole poop swastika, players quitting, ISIS thing.

What? You think Drink would want to tank here? He’s 36.

We hired a geriatric position coach that is going to make 3M per year for 2-3 and then burn out and retire.

We’re amazing at rationalizing total failure.

Mizzou goes and offers 4M and we offer less than the B team high school coach we just fired.

By the looks of it, he’s going to hire a bunch of his buddies who are “good men”, the stadium will be empty and we may win 3-4 games next year.

I’ll give him a chance but I’m incredibly skeptical. Probably more so than when we hired Chaggit.

Will wait on the staff before total melt.

No offense to Drink, but he is not ready. And Drink even admitted he is not ready to take over the clusterfrick. I don't expect the program to excel under Pittman, but his recruiting alone will setup the next coach very nicely. That may end up being Drinkwitz then if he excels at Mizzou. He did say Arkansas is his dream job more or less. Yes, he is a Gus protege, but he doesn't have the Gus stench on him.

This would equal our production from the previous 2 years combined. I think the search was obviously botched but worst case he fixes the lax culture of the team, stocks up the trenches with grown men and gets us in better financial shape in 3 years. Could be worse.

Lol. He wants to be here because we offered him 3x what he was making. Had another school offered he more he’d really want to be there.
