Jeff yes, Bert no.

Walk around campus and look at the facilities.

JL has spent the SEC money well.

Bert was a good hire at the time from the B1G, he's in over his head and can't keep his yankee mouth shut.

Fire Jeff Long and watch the program explode.

Our offensive line not being able to hold a block enough for a 3 step drop to be completed before our QB is on his arse is the offense's problem. Not Enos. Guy has a crybaby starter with the yips and a coonass 2nd stringer to work with.

This is the most elementary, crayon written defense of Jefferey that I have seen all year.

Jeffrey Long is raking any of you that send your hard earn dollars to the Program.

If Long plans on firing Bert he should see what Enos can do now.

They've been "demanding excellence' at Tennessee ever since they fired Fulmer and they are in a death spiral. Constantly flipping coaches to try and compete in the SEC is not a viable strategy. At the time of the hires, Long was considered a genius. While everyone else was hiring up and coming mid major coaches, we got a coach from the NFL and another from a P5 conference with a strong resume. I'm as upset with the trajectory of the football program as much as anyone, but Long has done everything you could ask for from an AD to put us in a position to compete. If you don't see that then you are either letting anger cloud your judgement, or you should probably be posting on that other site most of the time.

But...the dumb arse doesn't even demand excellence.

How do you know? Are you in attendance when he and CBB meet? He and CMA? Or is it because he didn't fire either when you wanted him to? What should he have done differently? Fire CBB after 4 years instead of possibly 5? Does that one year really equal him "not even demanding excellence?"

quote:

He just wants them to not have a negative eye to the public and kids to graduate. I would rather have an AD that demands excellence. Kids will still graduate. Other programs demand excellence and still have kids earning their degrees. Why can't we?

NEWS FLASH - that's literally his job. Of course he's gonna point to positives like these publicly, as would literally anybody else in his position, any AD.

The fact is, he's made some damn good hires and given them all the financial and physical support he can, and that goes for all sports from the bottom up. He's held up his end of the bargain in every instance, unfortunately he can't produce wins like he can facilities and funds. BUT - that's not his job.

What razorbroncs has said here is 100% the truth. I was off the Bert train at the end of last season. Doesn't mean I didn't think he deserved this year to prove me wrong.

I wanted mike fired last year in the middle of that losing streak (I will admit I do not pay attention to basketball as much as football, but I know how we have faired as far as the tourney and sec tourney went) I knew he had not recruited super well at first. Then he turned it around, and until reggie Perry got bought out from us he had really exploded in that dept. It is still much better, and the future of basketball recruiting is going up. I am glad long had more patience than I did for mike because now I see light at the end of the tunnel.

Long has shown to future candidates he has patience, and he gives full support until you have shown with 100% certainty you cannot get the job done. I think it's obvious to most Bert cannot get it done here. I'm afraid (as now even though I'm drunk) I'm remembering Bert talking about how he is happy he has 6 years here to get it done. I'm worried that long is holding fast to his promise of 6 years (which is a good look as far as job security wise for any future coach). The problem is the fan base has given up on bert.

Unlike mike I do not see the light at the end of the tunnel. I had a ton of patience with him. I liked (and still do) as a person. I had family members saying we had to fire the guy years ago. I kept telling them that we had to be patient and give him more time. I think his time has run its course here.

Not once have I felt like long was the problem in any of this. The people wanting him fired for his hires are stupid. I didn't like the hire of Bert when it happened. He won me over in the press conference. My gut instinct was correct. On paper it was a great hire honestly.

I think long has shown that this job pays like a top 15-10 job. We have facilities like one. We give you support and patience unlike any other in that category. At the end of the day coaches want money, and job security. Long has shown he provides both. Get off his arse.

Are you? If not, then you are talking out of your arse like the rest of us.

Who makes this possible? The boosters. The people’s love for the University and its success will always generate money /improvements over whatever dick sack that sits in Frank’s office.

Jeffrey has been a failure in the areas that matter the most:Football and Basketball. He almost ran off a future Hall of Fame coach in DVH.

If your main argument for Jeffrey is ‘muh buildings, muh money’ then you are on island yelling at fricking volleyball.

Well this just isn't true. Basketball program is looking strong right now. To say otherwise is wilful ignorance.

Don't even try to argue with him. Pigfeet is going bonkers on a "Jeff Long is the Anti-Christ" binge right now. Best to just nod and keep your distance.
