Well, just because I believe that your god is a made up fairy tale invented in the 1st century CE and stolen from the Jewish god who was invented a few thousand years earlier and then later coopted by Islam as their god in the late 6th/early 7th century doesn't mean I don't think that there can be no god or gods :)

You could even argue that the point of evolution is apotheosis.

Atheists have pretty firm convictions that there is no god or that there are no gods. I think it's virtually mathematically certain that a group of whatever we might consider as gods exists somewhere.

P.S. If you offend a follower of Odin they'll usually just punch you in the face then invite you to have a beer :)

P.P.S. Seriously, modern norse religious ceremonies involve a lot of drinking

oh and Christmas and Easter.. because that's where christianity stole it from

They actually built the first Norse temple in Iceland in a 1000 years recently.

I find it ironic that in a thread arguing the validity of protection for the LGBT community, there's been more hateful speech toward being a Republican, Democrat, and/or Christian. This is why I think that while it's a good gesture, this kind of protection isn't absolutely necessary. The only thing I see this kind of law doing is skyrocketing the already absurd amount of lawsuits.

I dunno, I think it's pretty easy to make the argument that a lot more people are comfortable admitting to being Republican, Democrat and/or Christian than to being gay, lesbian or transgender.. especially on a football board.

You can't fire someone for being a Christian, a Muslim or an Atheist. That's a choice.

You can fire someone for being gay. That's an orientation that people are largely born with.

There's something inherently wrong and hypocritical with those two positions.

as a general rule this is wrong, but this isn't the thread for that discussion, so I won't elaborate

What does any of that have to do with whether discriminating against LGBT people should be illegal? It's unrelated.

I'm Christian, in the ministry, and fully support LBGTQ people to be able to work in whatever place they want with proper discrimination policies in place. Don't see the problem between the two.

There's room for everybody if we can all respect each other as human beings.

This kind of shite is why people can't have reasonable conversations these days. People can't logically talk about other points of view without someone getting offended, jumping to conclusions, and hurling an insult.

I'm just logically trying to talk about this ordinance and how it would work.

I guess because I'm concerned and have questions about how it would work, I'm a "righter that hates gays".

Seriously, you're a dumbass. frick you man.

Agree to disagree there.

Like I said before, if someone is going to discriminate, they're going to discriminate. Just because they can't say they fired them for being gay doesn't mean they won't do it and list another BS excuse. It's a nice gesture, but a law like this would be nearly impossible to uphold and would only add more lawsuits.

She's not a Katy Perry "I Kissed a Girl" lesbian, she's a 4 Non-Blondes "What's Up" lesbian.

So, basically, a real one.

this entire thread has made me very sad.

I believe in my God. I cannot force that belief on others but because I believe I choose to live my life with a system of values and I will not compromise those values simply because they may not all be "politically correct".
