Well I think that logic is pretty stupid. Maybe you should study history. Maybe then you might be able to wrap your liberal head around what the flag stands for.

Alllmost got through there without dropping the 'liberal' buzz word.

At the end of the day, if conservatives had sat during the anthem because they couldn't support a country that allowed abortion, gay marriage, etc, I have no doubt that the liberals would be crying about patriotism and conservatives would be the ones thumping the constitution and defending their first amendment (and probably 2nd amendment) rights.

IDK... at this point I think both sides are just looking for excuses to gripe about the actions of the other.

Yeah, unfortunately it's gotten to the point where folks root for political parties like they do their favorite sports team and their rival. They revel in the defeat of the rival team as much (if not more) as they revel in their own team's victory.

That's fine for sports but, man, that's a toxic atmosphere to have among every day Americans...because at the end of the day, that's what we all are.

Hmm, interesting truly.

I'll admit, I wanted the democrats to lose the election- after everything that happened pre-election and the fact that they had been in office for 8 years. But it's weird, I used to think I was on their team and I definitely don't consider myself on the other team but you're right that's not a good way to make a decision.

I guess it's just I don't feel like I have a team anymore so it just sucks because our choices are so limited when it just comes down to a few candidates, it's just choosing who you find the least horrible.

Another issue it creates is that we have a watered down democracy. When it comes to important issues, citizens have two real options: how the Democrats tell their members to feel about an issue and how Republicans tell their members to feel. As a result, instead of individuals freely voting with logic, they are reduced to voting for two options based On whether a D or an R is beside the issue at hand.

When that's the case, at the end of the day are we really free citizens telling the government what we want or are we just a bunch of plebs that the government tells how to feel?

I'm not hopeful that I'll ever see it change, but with that perspective on things at least there's a lot less anger in my life.

I don't see how anyone could argue with that. I voted for him, still glad we're not with her but stfu, Don, you ignoramus man child.

I voted for Hillary and quite honestly I've never felt worse voting for a candidate in my life. The first time I've voted for a Democrat for President since... well... ever. I doubt I'd vote for her to hold a position in the local PTA.

That having been said, much like I did with Obama, I hope that Trump recovers and becomes the greatest President we've ever had the fortune to elect. Because we are stuck with him for the next three years at least.

I want every President, whether I voted for him or not, to be the best President we've ever had. I know a Theodore Roosevelt or George Washington isn't walking through that door every Presidential election but you can hope.

But perhaps Trump can take a page from Teddy's page book, a legitimate badass mind you, and "speak softly while carrying a big stick."

I feel ya- I would have laughed in anyone's face if they'd have told me 18 months ago that I would vote for Trump.

... Yeah you got me. But if he can't be Teddy, he could aspire to be Teddy.

Yeah..

Teddy Roosevelt "Speak softly and carry a big stick."

Donald Trump "Yell all the fricking time about shite you are too mentally deficient to understand while having Vladimir Putin's stick up your arse."

A subtle difference..

Those that haven't really need to research the history of the Pledge of Allegiance. It is fascist. I never say it it's ridiculous.
