Haven't watched or read anything other than seeing how they did last year and what they did to UNC this year. Did see their depth chart and couldn’t believe how they’re maxing what they have - they are tiny. So, is their coach legit? Is he a guy that wants to stay in that area? Are they running some kind of gimmick?

I know next to nothing about their coach, but a quick Wikipedia search shows he’s fairly young but a program builder and a winner everywhere he’s been.
Took over a Salve Regina program that had 8 straight losing seasons before he got there and he went 6-4, 8-3, and 9-2.
Then went to Assumption — which was bottom feeder and consistently had losing seasons — and built them into an 11 win program.
Then went to Holy Cross (which had not been good) dominated the Pat league, winning 5 straight conference titles and building them into a 10-12 win program.
Now he’s 3-0 in his first year at JMU.
He’s definitely someone to watch out for.

They have a new coach this year.
Cingetti really got them going and he left. He is at Indiana now. Chesney, their coach now, came over from Holy Cross where he was pretty successful.

Note: Cignetti was a guy I wanted Arkansas to look at when we fired Pittman last year.

Thank you both. That’s what I couldn’t remember - if Cignetti had left yet or not.

Cignetti is the beat coach nobody talks about. Go watch Indiana play this weekend. They have so much discipline and fire, you can't believe they are Indiana.
Ark should have hired him last year. Now his buyout is probably too big for a year or two for anyone to poach him.
Plus ADs are scared of hiring a guy in his 60s now.

That’s dumb if true. Dudes that age are experienced and not far from retirement, so contracts can be a lot less lofty. A lot to like about an older coach IMO

Got to talk ball with coach Cig when he was WR coach at Alabama. Really like the guy. I was a nobody WR coach from Crossett, AR at the time and he took a lot of time to talk route fundamentals with me when he didn't have to. Very good attention to detail guy. And very down to earth.

He has Indiana rolling. They have been fun to watch this year. He probably wont be there long.

To be fair, James Madison had been a built FCS program for well over a decade. Curt Cignetti carried their success over to their first two years in FBS before going to Indiana this year (where he's now 4–0, taking over a team that went 3–9 last year and winning by substantial margins), and this guy is continuing the success. Not to diminish that awesome win over UNC, but in this case, he's not really building JMU like he did the other places.
Jamey Chadwell is the guy I'm surprised more Arkansas fans aren't keeping their eye on. He built Coastal Carolina into a G5 power during their FCS to FBS transition (including the 11–1 year during COVID which saw them end the year ranked, then went 11–2 the next year to prove it wasn't a fluke), and then took over for Hugh Freeze at Liberty and went 13–0 before losing the Fiesta Bowl to #6 Oregon, and is now at 4–0.
I want us to hire that guy regardless of how this year turns out, barring 10 wins or something preposterous that won't happen. But I know that won't happen, so frick it.
