Or did we miss out on one from our home state? Just to be clear i helieve he is and beilama made the right cjkuce in taking Whaley the thread in the rant just had me curious as to what the rest of the fanbase thinks. The way he trucked jamal Adams showed what kind of runner he is.

Yes he is. I think by the end of the season he will answer any questions you need to know about him.

Crockett would go in the nice to have category. Whaley i expect to be significantly better. He needed to grow and learn last year and we had a rock star starter so why waste the carries on him

Crockett is pretty good. Whaley hasn't had the opportunities yet. We can answer this better after this season.
I think Whaley has the better upside though.

We need more data to determine that.

This. Whaley definitely has a better upside. I remember when he was committed to Georgia and Bert made his move.

In hindsight we should have gotten Crockett as well but we had a log jam at RB then. He's done very well at Missouri and was the missing piece of the puzzle to get their offense going.

I think Devwah has more home run speed though. In the West that little bit of extra speed can be a life saver given how fast the defenses are in the division.

Crockett at one point was a "Tweener" meaning not SEC caliber. His offers said such. Then Odom was hired at Mizzou and they needed a RB and offered.

Crockett has had something to prove and boy, he did.
Devwah was higher rated, had more offers by upper echelon schools etal.

I'll probably get some downvotes on this but I was a little underwhelmed by Whaley last year. Not that he's a bad back, but he doesn't seem to be great in any one area. He will do well if given space but I didn't notice any "game-breaking" speed or tackle breaking/avoiding ability.

That doesn't mean he can't have a good season. I don't think he's a big step down from RWIII, who was a little more nifty of a runner, but I don't think either are very impressive relative to the overall quality of RB play at Arkansas over the past 20 years.

Did we watch the same games last year? Personally, I thought Devwah looked much better than Rawleigh and I was hoping he would be the #1 guy even before Rawleigh got hurt again.

I thought Devwah showed good burst and took advantage of what he was given. I'm not trying to say he's garbage or anything close to that, but I'm looking at him in comparison to j-will, ac3, dmac, Felix, Cobb's, Talley even Dennis Johnson (one of the most underrated we've had). All these guys had elite aspects to their game and could make a lot happen on their own.

I just didn't see much of that from Whaley. To me he looks more like a WR when he's running (albeit a strong WR). I hope I'm way off on this and he ends up being a first round RB.

I'm not laughing that much over him playing on our end of the season rival right now.

We had a log jam at RB and he went somewhere else. I do think the Devwah has better speed and said so.

Maybe, given RWIII having had a bad neck injury going into last season, we should have taken a shot at Crockett. For depth if nothing else.

Of the two we got the right guy, but if you are giggling over Crockett playing for an in conference rival when we could use him this year then you need to lay off the laughing gas Rev.

I think since Georgia wanted him badly and they have had nothing short of elite RB play for years tells you all you need to know about Whaley.

I was laughing over the topic... It has come up before on here, I believe. I remember folks lamenting us not taking Crockett when he only had lover tiered offers.

But if you have some laughing gas around, hit me up.

agree completely rawleigh didn't impress me much honestly. He didn't seem to have break away speed or be some great bruiser who could shed alot of tackles. Whaley clearly had a gear that jwill ac3 and rawleigh don't posesss. I think we could end up better at th this year by subtraction as terrible as that may sound

while I agree that Whaley may have major upside in speed and agility, RW3 brought a change of pace we may really miss. He was tough, but damaged in a way that is unmistakable. I hate it for him.

I am hoping Hayden ? SPelling... will do well also.

Doesn't matter really, after his pot use that got him suspended, he wouldn't still be on the team.

I've seen all of our great backs in the past, and I will tell you Whaley has "it". Barring injuries, he may break some UA records. I know to some that's blasphemy, but that kid has something. I think he has a chance to go all the way every time he touches the ball.
