If Mike Anderson doesn’t make it to the Sweet 16, will it be considered a failure

With 4 future NBA players on the same team, I would say yes, it would be a coaching failure. Most coaches can do it with 1 or 2 NBA players on a squad.
Future NBA players:
Gafford
Joe
Jones
Henderson

I see your troll but I don’t know that it’s effective anymore since we now put the blame on the players not the coaches.

not a troll, woman.
3 of those 4 players will play in the NBA and I think Jones could, too

I saw Henderson make a decent play recently, don’t even remember what it was now could have been a rebound in that last lopsided win. Anyway, I thought of you when I saw it. God help me.

It happens, at least you've acknowledged it, accepted it, and are now learning how to live life with me in it

no. he just has to get us into the tournament. he would surprise most here with that from their preseason predictions.

quote:Yeah I had no thoughts of making the tournament coming into this year. That said if this young talent proves to be as good as they seem, that expectation might go up once we hit conference play.

gotcha so if he keeps us better than you expected you'll move those goal posts so we underachieve.

quote:No? What I personally expected coming into the season and what I expect the program to produce are two different things. There was no way of knowing what our base level of play would be with all of these freshmen we've never seen play before. Obviously if you find out you have more firepower than you thought coming in, you're going to expect more things. Making the tournament with a roster full of freshmen would be a good achievement this year.

I've already been extremely positive in my assessment of this year so far.

Don’t worry, once these guys get half a season under Mike they’ll start playing like what we’re used to seeing the past few years under Mike

Who knows. The expectations have been lowered so far at this point then just making the tournament is a good year. They will probably crown him King of Fayetteville.

he's already considered a failure.

I cant fathom the thought that folks are piling on Drewbie. He is spot on, on most things imo. Understanding that it is opinion.
But, when MA was hired, who here thought it would take this long, and albeit longer to get to and win a 2nd round tourney game? Who thought we would be able to compete at a higher level and recruit at a higher level?
Remember back to those days. From there, have we overachieved, underachieved, or are you still satisfied with the results.
Drewbie was also correct in that it is much easier to turn around a BB program than that of Football. One truly great player can make a huge difference in total outcomes, one great recruiting class can as well.
ANd then Coaching... How has that worked out for us. How many times has MA called a TO for a play and it seem as if futility set in?
And I agree with Drewbie that MA finally has his type of team here, after this many years... This long, he has it.
And I agree with Drewbie that I want MA to win it all here, and develop a program like our fans deserve again. He is capable, but will he get the right assistants, when needed, recruit at a higher level, and develop?

Fred Hoiberg would turn this team into a National Powerhouse once again. We will wait another 2 years and hire John Pelphrey 2.0 and the cycle will continue.

How could you forget a generational talent like Holmes on the bench waiting for his shot?

Teams that have made the Sweet 16 since Mike took over include basketball powerhouses like:
Ohio
La Salle
Florida Gulf Coast
Florida State
Texas A&M (2)
Kansas State
Loyola-Chicago
Nevada
Texas Tech
Clemson
Tennessee
San Diego State
Oregon (3)
Baylor (3)
and so on...

quote:It could hardly be considered piling on. Just a couple of fans that won't accept that the past 8 years have been largely mediocre. People want to bring up conference success but conveniently leave out that SEC Basketball was the punchline of a joke until about 2 years ago.
I cant fathom the thought that folks are piling on Drewbie.
The one thing we can all agree on is that this team is perfect for Mike and we all want him to succeed. Definitely more excited about the season than I was in October.
