All I want is a coach that consistently get 8-9 wins with the occasional 10-11 win seasons.

We shouldn't be worse off than either Mississippi school.

And we should have teams that can compete with the Bama's and LSU's. Not saying we should win against them, but at least be competitive year in and out.

Pay him 2M as coordinator.

Are his skeletons any worse than Briles?

He has been a head coach at a major program since the incident.

You can't hire a coordinator that's a better head coach than your current head coach.

I can’t really imagine wanting Petrino back. He shite all over the opportunity he had here, and is now a shell of the man he was. I would consider him as an OC, but his ego would never allow for it, so our Petrino days are done. Can’t believe we have this many who aren’t over it.

He is over 60 years old and washed up.

Can't deny that he knows what a route tree is. KB believes in two reads, and has no conception of a route tree.
He'd bring in a legit QB since Briles has failed in three years.

He wouldn’t, because he will never coach in any capacity at Arkansas again. Some of you need to stop wishcasting and deal with reality. Hiring Petrino in any capacity beyond maybe a consultant would divide the fan base worse than Nutt and Malzahn combined.

Guarantee not nearly as much as a losing season.

I know we will never hire him. I just want a winner and a real offense.

He’s the last one we’ve had that was cut from the same thread as DvH and Muss.

Sam was never a head coach and didn't have the baggage that Petrino had. Sam has a chance to do something here while the best years of Bobby is behind him.

We keep talking about baggage.

What about our OC?

I wouldn’t be so sure. We are still dealing with the effects of Petrino’s frickery, and the ridicule and derision he caused the whole University.

I’m with you on that, and the thought that he could bring that. I just don’t entertain it for a second, because he will never coach here again.

That we’ll have to disagree on. Petrino was almost universally hated, by players, coaches, officials, administrators, and boosters. He was a narcissistic prick, and a bonafide offensive genius. It made him think the rules didn’t really apply to him. He didn’t have to recruit particularly well, because he could legitimately scheme wins. But that didn’t work against truly superior talent in places like Bama and LSU.

He got a little of the Baylor stench on him, but not really. No need to be the arse that brings that up when there is three years worth of dumbshittery and wtf play calls that happened right here.

Pretty sure he was 2-2 against LSU and lost one by 3pts in OT.

His recruiting was fine and half the reason Bert had any success here. Obviously a what could have been situation but he would have lit it up with both Allen’s.

Truly a shame he never got to coach either of them as starters. Especially Brandon.

Pales in comparison to Chaggot and Bert.

At least BP left quite a bit of talent here.

My biggest worry is that it's well-known that Sam relied on the transfer portal to get some highly ranked guys in here to plug some holes, and for the most part we landed some great pieces that are on the top end of talent on this team

But if we keep losing like we are, it'll be next to impossible to convince more highly rated transfers to come here after this season. At least after 9-4 last year Sam could sell these portal guys on a team that was on the upswing but needed their help to get over the hump. This coming "portal season" will be a hard sell if we finish something like 6-6 or worse.

These guys in the portal considering a new team will certainly compare themselves to previous transfers and study how those transfers panned out at their new programs, and those high end guys considering Arkansas will be given pause when they see other high end guys like Sanders, McGlothern, or Hazelwood racking up losses and getting lost in the shuffle of a mediocre program

THAT'S what worries me the most about this tailspin. We could've had a legitimate shot at being a top tier portal destination and making our name on transfers if this season turned out to be a special one
