It's Chavis. The entire staff was out eating last night, including Chavis and Steve Caldwell.

Honest question for those sold on Chavis. What is it about him, his defense, or his philosophy that makes you think he is among the best? What are you seeing, that I don't see?

Everybody knows where I stand on this and who I wanted to see here in some capacity, whether head coach or DC or whatever, so no need to bring that up. BUT, I would be happy with Chavis for a number of reasons.

He really is a great d coordinator. He has fielded some of the best defenses in the country numerous times. The thing that suits Arkansas best with Chavis is the premium he puts on defensive line play. That's where we have to make our mark, considering we aren't going to have great talent across the board on defense. Think Missouri defense under Pinkel. They were damn good because they had fast and agressive play up front. Chavis can provide that.

Also, I think he was a bad fit at Aggy for three reasons.

1) They were too quick strike on offense. Not tempo solely, but quick strike as in air raid. Morris's offense won't be like that. We will run the ball more.

2) Bad culture. A drunk head coach with diva personalities on the field.

3) Aggy defense was very young. Eventually Chavis would have got those guys playing good ball.

I'm not sold on Chavis being a home run, but I think he is very good and will be happy to have him get a shot here.

At this point I don't care if it's Reggie frickin Harring. Just announce already so we can move forward with our unrealistic optimism of the ip coming season.
