Last year was on the pure athletic ability of Portis and Qualls. Watch Mike on the sidelines. There are no adjustments. He sits there and stares then makes stupid faces at his players when they make mistakes. We are so unbelievably easy to gameplan for. So when we don't have the SEC Player of the Year on our team, we're average at best, as has been the case ever since Mike got here.

Even if Mike was fired, Long wouldn't hire a coach from UALR. He proved that when Joe Foley, who is arguably the best coach in the state, didn't get a call when the women's job was open.

Mike should have too, but he panicked thinking Beard was his best player and he helped Anton get off super light on a pretty serious charge.

Beard was the ring leader in that case, his play on the court didn't show that he was humbled to still be on the team.

I absolutely would never have imagined in my worst dreams that we'd have gone this long w/o a Sweet 16 appearance. We keep hiring chumps and we're locked into Anderson until 2020.

This. If Mike shits it out next year then make a move. I like Beard, but he won't be the coach at Arkansas next year. Maybe he'll hang around UALR until we're done with Mike.

Went to tardville to see what's hannennan.

Beard for co-head coach at UA

Little Rock would've had the same if not worse time in the sec

No mention of lack of talent.

So apparently a sun belt team can't beat a p5 school.

Arkansas basketball has been run into the ground so bad by three successive poor head coaching hires,

I really don't see any incentive to Beard wishing to coach there?

We're stuck w/ Mike for another 2-3 years regardless of what happens the next 2-3 seasons. Just suck it up boys and send those checks.

2 poor hires, 1 good hire.

The 1 good hire won't get much longer but he has had consistent success and will get hired quickly once Arkansas sends him packing.

Arkansas is cursed and the fans have too high expectations compared to the state of the sport these days.

I thought mike was a good hire at the time and I would say at this point we certainly could do worse but realistically we can't keep employing him for fear of becoming worse when it's our only chance to get better.

I hope we kick arse and take names next year but I have my reservations from believing it will happen. With that said if Mike gets us into the NCAA tournament I think he's safe and should be. However at this point he's yet to prove he's going to get us consistently winning and not crumbling in the offseason.

Why would he suck? If they lose, they had a good season. 30-5 isn't anything to sneeze at.

Sun Belt may be tougher than the SEC in basketball.

Completely disagree.

I didn't want Mike hired when Pelphrey was fired because I wasn't convinced that Mike could recruit. He had one very solid season at Missouri but 2 or 3 of his best players were his relative or relatives of close friends.

Unless his friends and family network was much larger than I thought possible, I could see where he might not be that great of a recruiter.

Does anybody ever listen to him speak? He doesn't have the personality to be a great recruiter. It's obvious to me.

He still could have been successful by hiring assistants that could recruit but that hasn't happened to this point.

Tenure is a positive and Mike could improve his job performance over time, but it's a dumpster fire to this point.

Arkansas use to be a perennial powerhouse for decades. This is a top 20 program easily with the right HC.

Much easier to establish a winner in basketball than football.

Look at freakin Kansas.

Hahaha, Self is a great coach but Kansas will always be good, that's where basketball started for christ's sake. Prestige of the program will carry you a good bit there

No losing seasons isn't a dumpster fire, good lord man. Anderson is a respected coach, he will get another job with the quickness if we send him packing.

I'm not saying he won't deserve to be fired if we don't make the tournament next year but he is still a good coach that will be desirable to other teams.
