How many kids from Arkansas are getting in versus twenty years ago? Are they getting priced out or did we just increase the enrollment by going to an out of state pool?

These are great questions I don't know the answers to

I don't understand how it's priced out. For tuition and fees it runs about 10-12k a year. Most parents shell out well more than that for travel ball etc growing up.

For a university today, that's dirt cheap. For reference, Shiloh costs like 9-10 and some of those people pay it from k-12 which to me is nuts.

Enrollment of Arkansas kids at UA isn't much higher than it was 20 years ago. It's just over 15k. Considering total enrollment was around 15k in the late 1990s, there are probably a couple more thousand Arkansas kids at UA than there were 20 years back. The state hasn't grown all that much.

Enrollment growth is mostly due to out of state kids. We might be slightly majority out of state this coming fall. I expect Fayetteville enrollment will top 30,000. Last year's freshman class was the largest ever by a large margin, and this year's is supposed to top that one.

I get it, I really do. But it has gone from.. "Don't bring up your personal beliefs on religion" to "anything that can be considered religious in thought, or deed must be thrown out immediately"

Yet, he, she, it, they, gay, trans, tri, gore, fem, are all allowed to be discussed and even studied at some of these universities
I don't know. It's all noise to me. Maybe some of that goes on in other areas but I haven't really seen it.

I have seen a couple people put their pronouns in their email signature (yes, it's dumb) but it really doesn't affect me. I just focus on doing my job and treating others with respect and things seem to work out.

Yes, it costs $ to live somewhere and eat. Still All in, about 25-30k a year. Most schools elsewhere are over that in just the class fees along.

So the reason this happened is because Henderson went "woke." In 2011, Charles Welch left as president of HSU to take the president job at AState. They had several good candidates apply to replace him.

The board decided to go with a young up-and-comer with practically no leadership experience. The student body and community can only surmise that he was hired based on his ethnicity (Ill let you read between the lines.)

He then ran the entire university into the ground and was skimming money to boot. Now the school is broke, and this is the only way for any type of recourse.

This is truth. I am an alum and spent many fall Saturdays roaming the Reddie sideline as a ballboy in my youth. The dude before the the guy they have now was terrible. He hired terrible people also.
The new Chancellor is catching a lot of heat for firing folks, but he is doing the job he was hired to do. I have no problem with that. If the university is going to continue to be a university, it must be done.

Welch and I left the same year. HSU seemed on the way up at the time, I can't imagine how the next fuxked it up that bad.

They went woke and hired the black guy either to A.) Be Progressive or B.) Avoid a lawsuit (or both)

They should have hired Bobby Jones as University president in 2012. There was a huge rally for him at the school when the search was going on. Many prominent members of the community and alumni were in support of him, but he didnt have the resume that Glen Jones had (although he had never held a formal leadership position), so if they had hired Bobby Jones they faced a chance for litigation.

SAU has actually hired very capable (and quite conservative-leaning), fiscally responsible, presidents over the last 25 yrs. The board is also made up of almost all local people with largely good intentions (and a lot of money).

Henderson did not... And it has now become essentially a 1900s-esque teachers college... And not a full-fledged university.

Bobby Jones is a freaking legend at Henderson. He would have done everything in his power to take care of that school.
