That team was unranked all season, didn't come close to competing for a conference title and was blasted by real contenders to end the year

Last year was a good season. Obviously we wanted to do better in the tournament but that doesn't mean it was a bad year

So just making the tournament is considered good now? The expectations of this program is shameful.

In other words, it was a highly successful year for us.

That last post was bullshite.

So how about we just see how the season plays out and if Mike gets the remainder of his contract, or even next year.

Hunter will know what to do.

I'm just not seeing any evidence of good coaching.
8 years and not much to show for it.
Time to try something different.

Stop sea-lioning. We lost like 8 players, most of them seniors.

Gafford is gone next year. Who's gonna make up those 37 pts. next year?

gasp

Are you blaming the players? I'll have you know Joe is the greatest shooter to ever put on a Hog uniform! For shame!

Then they can make excuses like “it’s not Mike’s fault we don’t have Gafford anymore. He averaged 16 points per game. We got beat by 10 tonight. If Gafford were here to give his 16, we would have one.”

Which, yes, is a really stupid argument but makes about as much sense as saying we would have won if Adreo Bailey scores more points. Or we would have won if we hit free throws. No shite. We would have won if the other team forfeited. But that didn’t happen. Nor did the other things. This we have 4 home losses already.

Yeah, why wouldn't you? Isaiah is a freshman and he's playing like one the past two games. He's learning and he'll get better though. Right now he's 6'5" but playing like he's 5'10". Turns into a frightened baby deer around the rim.

Do you blame Van Horn for Shaddy missing the pop foul?

Now you're really reaching. Get back to me when Mike gets in Dave's realm of greatness.

So free throws are Mike's fault, but pop ups are on the players? Why the double standard?

At the end of the day, I do blame Van Horn for that as the coach has ultimate responsibility for the performance of his players... however you're talking about a FLUKE occurrence that happened one time. With free throws, you're talking about consistently poor shooting for the entirety of the season.

On top of that... we were playing for a national championship which speaks volumes about the quality of Van Horn's coaching consistency for the rest of the season. If Mike gets us to National Championship and we're not shooting free throws well, I might say he should have us shooting them better, but he gets some grace since WE'RE PLAYING FOR A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. This isn't that hard. Good grief.
