Yeah, idk. I grew up in Sherwood and still have always thought the Little Rock games were retarded. Quit gimping the team to play in a shite stadium.
Same.
I grew up in the Delta, went to numerous games there, and I still never “got” it.
A certain segment of WMS apologists never cease to amaze me with the movement of the goal posts.
“We’re the greatest fans and always pack out WMS!”
[WMS gets two non-conference cupcakes]
“We’ll only show up if you give us a good opponent!”
[gives WMS Georgia in 2014, embarrassing crowd shows up]
“The Hogs have to be good!”
So the self-proclaimed “best fans” only come to WMS for games against bigtime opponents when the Hogs are good.

I have a feeling the swan song is coming, and the fat lady will definitely sing on WMS!
2025 OOC Schedule... LOL! What a way to go out! Playing little brother. Frank would be pissed.
Aug. 30 - Missouri State
Sept. 6 - Arkansas State (in Little Rock)
Sept. 20 - at Memphis
Sept. 27 - Notre Dame

Feels somewhat fitting that our last ever game in Little Rock would be against Arkansas State.

A lot advocating to drop the Dallas game. Also some saying LR experience better than DWRRS
Anyone claiming that is senile. Fayetteville has a legit SEC level gameday experience. WMS is Sunbelt level. 30 year old talking points notwithstanding

Given how the last decade has gone in that stadium, I fully expect us to lose that game.

The LR donors will let you know when the last game is.

35 years ago, Little Rock was better than Razorback Stadium.
The drive was miserable. Coming down that pig trail at night was the Bataan Death March. The stadium wasn't near as loud because of the wide open end zones, and during the 80's WMS seated about 5k more people.
Over the last 30 years Razorback Stadium has surpassed WMS in all metrics and provides a much better experience both live and on TV.
Sometimes traditions have to die, and it is time for this one to go.
Also, this discussion has made me think. What was your worst experience in WMS? (Not including the ULM & Toledo games)
For me, 1987, #7 Miami vs #10 Arkansas. Also that year you had the Texas loss.

It was still a better experience my freshman year in 1999. The stadium renovation was completed my sophomore year and you could immediately tell it was game over for Little Rock at that point.

What was your worst experience in WMS?
1. ULM
2. Mississippi State - first time losing to them in state of Arkansas
3. UGA being up 21-0 like 3 minutes into the game
4. UAPB-this was just pointless
5. 2008 ULM. Won by 1
I did not attend Toledo game or else it would be up there

No in loudness which isn't a reason to keep games in WMS. People with point to Bama game but Mike Leach and Lou Holz re both on record saying how loud it is.

Holtz said that back in 2001 when DWRRS first expanded. Leach made that comment back in 1998 when WMS was at peak level.

Yes back when they coached at WMS in the 90s. Y'all need to let it go. We aren't sending any quality games there and the crowd won't be great. Should we play games in Bud Walton? It gets louder than RRS and WMS..

I think the cons of playing in WMS started outweighing the pros around 06-08. At this point it’s a no brainer

Except we're still doing it in 2023 lol, so stupid at this point

I realize you said excluding ULM but it’s my worst experience ever as a hog fan.
It was my freshman year at the UofA and I am from Saline County and went to every WMS game starting in either 05 or 06. Loved them. Roommates and i stood in line for probably 4-5 hours at the Razorback ticket office to get our student WMS tix.
Get all loaded up to go home for the first time since move in. We didn’t play well at all in that first half but found a way to be up 21-7 at halftime. Tyler Wilson gets hurt right before the half and some guy named Brandon Allen comes in for a couple plays. But it’s probably precautionary - Wilson will be back after halftime. Wrong. Here comes Allen again. But okay, we’re #8 in the country. We can beat a Sunbelt team at home with our backup QB. Allen throws a TD early in the 3rd quarter and we go up 28-7 and all is well. Everyone take a deep breath.
About this time 50%+ of the student section clears out. I assume to go get even more wasted at their tailgates. Crowd starts to thin out too. Whatever, it is what it is. ULM scores to cut it to 14 by the end of the 3Q. Had some key moments early in the 4th Q for us to keep them away from a 1 score game and the crowd is on the 3rd or 4th rendition of the wave. It’s also about this time that the beach balls start coming out. Defense gives up another TD to make it 28-21 and half the crowd is gone and the other half is doing the wave or playing with beach balls. I was only in game #2 of the student section but I remember being profoundly disappointed that these people cared way less than my high school student section did. Frustrating. No matter. All we have to do is hold on to the W here. Yes, we’ll probably drop a few spots in the polls but Gameday will no doubt still come to Fayetteville next week and I’ll get to camp out for it because I’m a stupid college freshman with nothing better to do. Can’t wait.
4th and 10 for ULM going in but only 55 seconds left. Just stop em here and we’ll all just survive and I’ll forget what a weird night this was. TD ULM. 28-28. End of regulation and we haven’t scored since the opening minutes of the 3Q. Does not bode well for OT. Offense sputters of course but Hocker is true and we go up 3. All we gotta do is stop em and the nightmare is over. No. On 4th/1 from the 16, we meet the QB in the backfield to bust the play up. Dude makes a man miss and scampers to the end zone.
We are two weeks in to my career at the UofA and the football team has already gone down the shitter. Who knows how long Tyler Wilson is out. John L Smith is obviously not the answer and not only that, but he’s not even going to be able to keep the train on the rails for his interim year. Kirk Herbstreit tweets “Arkansas what are you doing??? We were already on our way to Fayetteville!” Everyone at church in my hometown the next day goes “bet you’re glad you’re going to the UofA now huh! Could’ve always gone to A-State!”
Two other things I vaguely remember but not solidly enough to include in the narrative - 1) We had some yahoo “fly in” the game ball which messed all the pregame timing up and the band didn’t play William Tell. Bad omen. 2) Somebody dang near died on the field at some point late in that game. Tevin Mitchell maybe? Was stone cold silent in WMS for several minutes. If the air wasn’t out of the stadium prior to that hit/neck injury, it for sure was at that point.
Anyways, I eventually got over it and decided it would all be better. The next season we trailed Samford 21-17 going in the 4th quarter and I decided it was doomed forever.

Unless it is ASU every other year...
But back in the day, Jennings Osborn would do this shindig where you could purchase a half roasted chicken, and all the pulled pork a family of 4 could eat for 5bucks... drinks included. Well known past players and coaches, big wigs, etc..served the meal, would walk around talking to ya. And they did a pretty good fireworks show as well after the game.
It was an incredible atmosphere at one time. Times have changed. Now you have to pay way too much for decent seats, and the food sucks, as do the prices no matter where you go to see the hogs. Tailgating is at a premium as well. The big screen is becoming much more appealing!
