Where are our biggest issues? We’ve regressed on Defense.

How can we not regress? When you combine losing guys to the portal, losing critical guys to injury, and then running a shitty scheme, I don’t know how we could possibly be as good.

We got away with 3 down linemen last year because Ridgeway was a monster. How Pittman hasn’t gone to Odom and told him no more, I don’t understand. Especially against a team that throws it 50 times a game.

It’s not my job to recruit and make sure we have depth coached up on defense.

Barry makes how much a year and has for 3 years now? He should have some quality depth built up.

He hasn’t. He’s done absolutely jack squat. Go look at our defensive classes the last 3 years and the one for next year and tell me if there is any hope.

He lived off super seniors and chaggies recruits last year but he’s done nothing to build a defense.

I’m so sick of us hiring washed up had been coaches for DC’s who are riding off into their retirement.

I’m not going to defend Odom, his recruiting, or his scheme, because they’ve all been shite.

What I can’t get behind is the thought that getting rid of him will really help anything, when we are pretty much in the same spot on offense.

We have plenty of guys on that side of the ball, but many if not most of them are incapable of doing what it takes to be successful. We have an OC that has been here for 3 years, and yet chose Fortin to start over Hornsby.

I disagree, for this reason.

When the offense finally begins clicking, the Defense gives up yardage, by the chunks, and points...

Back to you Offense to keep up. And, KJ has been injured some prior to the bama game (or so I believe from friends).

The game against Petrion was won by Offense.......... overall, just to keep up with the scoring.

Who lost the TAMU game or have more to do with the loss?

I just truly believe that 21-31 points should be enough with a decent Defense. Our offense, when all are healthy is Medium... Of D is deficient period!

I can't believe the drop off from last season on D. Recruiting seems to be better for Offense as well... Something is off/wrong. I hope it gets much better and corrected with both coordinators being able to do thus

Our luck is we go on a run, and everyone goes back to thinking Briles/Odom are genius and they get extension and raises.

That defense hasn’t improved on anything yet. Doubt that happens.

Remember when we used to make adjustments on defense last year? We don’t anymore apparently

I mean we did exactly that last year. When looking at the schedule only, the parallels are pretty similar so far.

You picked the wrong one there. Our defense gave up fewer points to aTm than Alabama’s defense.

Seems like everyone wants to say that, but Briles has been here the same 3 years that Odom has, right? Yet we don’t have a QB on the roster who has any touch whatsoever. And where would we be if Haselwood didn’t transfer? Where would we be if a couple of our lineman transferred out, and Stromberg had a season ending injury game 1?

How many redshirt sophomores or younger contribute on offense?

Question is, Is Sam too loyal to his guys to fire Odom? Being a career assistant up to this job, I worry about that. Obviously Odom needs to go.

Bump. About to watch Troy vs. South Alabama. South Alabama DC is one we could look at.

Well, they played 3 down linemen with the expected results, but their secondary is better than ours.

Isn’t that the same thing Nutt used to do? Go 0 for October then do magic in November and get extensions?

Sam has yet to start SEC play 0-3.

What kept Nutt in the outhouse was only two bowl wins.

Here is what it would look like if he won his bowls.

10-2
8-4
7-5
8-4
10-4
9-4
5-6 Matt Jones fumble away from 6-6.
4-7
11-3
9-4 if Nutt would have stayed for the Cotton Bowl against Missouri.

That doesn't included games in which Nutt lost that were very winnable games such as Vandy in 05 or Auburn 07.

I don't see any similarities between the two. In all three SEC losses this year, Arkansas was the dog in all of them. Arkansas let the Aggies get away with the game but that game could have gone either way. The Bama was an expected loss and K.J was out for State. So not really anything surprising from these results so far.

Frank Broyles used to say they remember December.

Just win in December and everything’s cool I guess….

Was pretty close this year.
Especially since every major talking head keeps forgetting we beat SC.

It's more the Jimmys and Joes.
We don't have the elite athletes on defense.
We just don't.
