He doesn’t have a natty under his belt. Why should he have carte blanche? And dictating departure has only been the case for two coaches here who happen to be two of the greatest coaches ever in their respective sports so far.

Because he's one of the best coaches in the country. Not saying he's beyond reproach, but unless things go way down hill, he will be given the opportunity to retire on his terms. DVH is a smart guy. He'll know when it's time.

I think in a different time, you’re absolutely right regarding retiring on his own terms. But being that we are one of 3-4 baseball teams in college that actually generate revenue, he’s also probably under more scrutiny than we realize. Especially with HY. However, I also believe if it came down to “asking him to retire” that he would get one hell of a golden parachute and some permanent public token of respect for what he’s done. Maybe I’m totally wrong and he gets to dictate how he goes as long as he doesn’t start acting like Voltello and embarrassing us and himself. The guy is totally stand up and goes to my church, so it’s hard to be impartial.

This is why the handwringing by the players and coaches about our fans are so perplexing.

Not only are they out of character for DVH to either say or enable, we’re also one of the scant few programs which actually turns a profit (which is predicated on incredible fan support).

For DVH to coddle his players and put a thumb in the eye of the fans is uncharacteristic to say the least, especially when we’re not a loss leader program.

To be honest I thought NCST in the third game broke the back of DVH and right after what happened in 2018 I don't blame him. I thought after what happened last year that maybe he just wasn't the same and going into year 20 that his best years were behind him. Considering the length of time, it was fine to question if he still had the fire.

I guess as of right the fire hasn't burned out and he keeps proving his critics wrong. I really hope that very soon that DVH can bring it back to Fayetteville.

Me too. Baseball is just so damn different than Football or Basketball. The best team rarely wins. It's usually the luckiest team. Last season our luck ran out.

This season we went most of the season without luck on our side. Maybe this season we can catch a few more breaks and bring one home.

Would love for him to get it this season, hard thing to do though.

Matchups, vs everything.. Keep looking at stats, common opponents, etc. Who do we want to face in the WS, etc.

He’s taken us where we need to be and proven again that he knows how to coach. I’m not concerned about his fire or the team’s anymore. They’ll give it everything the right way (not the Tennessee way). I’m willing to STFU and be grateful and hope for the best for our guys.

DVH has made seven CWS appearances. This his his fourth appearance in seven years. The reason is the high level of recruiting. The better the recruiting the bigger the chances of making Omaha each year and thus the better odds of winning it all.

I think this team is better than last year. The reason why is te amount of bats that returned and most importantly a deeper bullpen that Kevin Kopps was able to hid the deficiencies of last year which they were a paper tiger. However DVH just has better options to pick from. Arkansas doesn't have any ace to lean on but the overall pitching is still good to make a run in the CWS just as long as you avoid the losers bracket.

Last night against Ole Miss was classic post-season DVH.

He fricks with the entire pitching rotation, trying something crazy, when he didn't have to.

The result is shitting the bed, and killing the momentum this team had.

This is why he will never win it all. He ALWAYS does something stupid overthinking bullshite like this in the post-season. Just like starting Kopps vs NC State last year.

He isn't built to win it all.

Seriously, does he have a fricking brain aneurism in the postseason? That was the worst pitching management I've ever seen.

Who in the blue hell could he have pitched that would have given up less than 3 runs in 8 innings.

As for last night, the guys that couldn’t get anyone out… Morris, Taylor, and Ramage would have pitched in that game no matter who started. In fact, during Will McEntire’s last start, all three made an appearance

Our whole team got tight. Even our plate approach changed.

We played smart and played small ball the first two innings and scored 1 and 2 runs, respectively. Then Ole Miss gets up 6-3 and suddenly we’re back to swinging for the fences, hacking at low and away junk, striking out from the knees, and doing the same bullshite that had us traveling for the regionals and supers as opposed to hosting.

The lack of pitching development was on full display last night. Matt Hobbs needs to be left in Omaha and not allowed to return to Fayetteville. I would even say the same for Nate Thompson. I don't want them anywhere near the new roster next year.

You can't please everyone. If he didn't start Kopps in that game and lost then then the complaining would that he should have started Kopps.
