Everybody that's turning on Dave for having a ranked team that's made the postseason, again, is setting themselves up to never be satisfied.

If it was so easy to win Nattys then every coach would have some. We were one out away in 2018 and last year we had our best SEC season ever and the best player in college baseball.

I think Dave will be just fine.

I think both assistants need to go. Hobbs has a little more leniency, but even then our staff is very shallow, for supposedly being very deep at the start of the season. They never give the younger guys a fair shot outside of Tygart and Smith. Moten had a lot of hype in Fall Ball and even in Spring, but we never really saw him. That's just one example.

DVH in particular needs to pull his head out of his arse and stop being so loyal to veterans. He also needs to adjust to the current climate and go land us some help in the portal. Next season will be a very long season and steep learning curve with so many new faces.

No one is turning on him, he has been here 20 years. It is time to acknowledge he will retire sooner than later.

He isn't cursed, he brought Arkansas to a level never seen before. He has been here 20 years but at some point regardless of what the results are, fans are ready to see some new blood. A program either goes up or down and sometimes remain stagnant. His next obstacle is to bring the trophy home to Fayetteville. Unfortunately he can't do it but hopefully he will leave the program in much better shape than he found it and retire on good terms.

There is a chance you go and get a Kirby after Richt, but more likely you get a Stan Heath

That depends on who the AD is and since it is Hunter then the probability of hiring the baseball version of Stan Heath is very low. Georgia suffered from apathy because Richt stayed and hit a ceiling then when you do, more often than not you will regress. I would guarantee had Richt stayed at Georgia, they would have not have won a NC because they would keep regressing. It would become stale with the momentum going the opposite direction.

DVH knows that time is ticking and he is getting older. 20 years is a long time in any sport and at this moment you either won a NC or you hit a ceiling and it can't be done. So if you can't reach the top then the only direction left is going down.

Thats what I'm afraid of for him is that he'll be a Richt/Mike Martin type. Always close but no cigar.

He won't last near as long as Mike Martin and I don't believe DVH would milk it like he did. I don't see him being an alumni of the school ever letting the program regress to the point that it needs to be rebuilt again. Most likely he retires with the program still being ranked and making regionals each year.

DVH will go out on his terms. He’s got to adapt or the game will pass him by. The fact that we got no pitchers from the portal this year is telling.

I think that’s what some people aren’t willing to grasp/accept. He has taken us to the brink and had 20 years to win it all. Either find a way to make it in 1-2 or honorably retire. I don’t think Yuracek would ever let it get ugly and I don’t think DVH is that obtuse. I also don’t understand why some of our fans act like we can’t do a better job (look at basketball and football short turnarounds). We have more and can have more than we think if we commit and don’t have a shite the bed, lament years that end in 4, and moral victory/honorable loss mentality that some of our fan base have.

Sounds like a Mike Anderson defender mantra.

No.

With Mike Anderson, you always feel like you were stealing fire on a win. With DVH we are mad when we don’t win and expect to be doing better.

Anderson and Morris were made apathy. With DVH we are still engaged. If there were multiple down years, I could see calling for his retirement but until then this is dumb.

I think most are in agreement that he needs to do something staff wise as soon as he can after we finish this season and then he will be judged on the merit of those decisions over an appropriate period of time. If we still haven’t achieved higher, or aren’t trending through the roof in all aspects (both of which are measurable), then it’s time for him to consider passing the baton. Hopefully that provides clarity on my individual opinion and doesn’t come off as “grab the torches and pitchforks” but does emphasize my contention that our program can and should do better.

Better job at finishing and winning, even in “rebuilding years”. Not saying “we can do a better job” on the coach. Make more sense?

DVH has carte blanche at the UofA.

While I think some staff changes need to be made, it has no bearing on the future of his coaching career at Arkansas.

DVH will decide when he's done coaching college baseball at Arkansas.
