His triple Axel three pointers against Auburn were a thing of.. beauty?

When you're talented and shoot 20x a game, pretty likely you're going to get some season accolades.
He's not an efficient player. If he played half as smart/ unselfish as Macon, we'd be gravy.

I agree Macon has been much better lately but Barford has one of the best shooting percentages in the SEC so I wouldn't say he's not efficient. He increased his 3 point percentage from 26% last year to 43% this year.

Yep, he leads the league in 3point percentage and is top 6 in shooting percentage. He does have a tendency to play hero ball.

This isn't a legitimate gripe against him when you looking at his shooting percentages. If you want to talk about him playing too much hero ball or not creating enough for others while in the game that is fair.

Look at his last 4-5 games and let me know.

You don't pick SEC 1st/2nd players off of 4/5 games.

Barford's numbers look good because he didn't play stupid hero ball all season. It's gotten worse as the season has gone on. That's kind of the point of this conversation. Barford isn't playing as well as he was. Here are his shooting percentages recently:
@Mizzou: 4-13 for 31% (3-8 from 3)
Auburn: 5-18 for 28% (3-9 from 3)
Kentucky: 4-16 for 25% (2-7 from 3)
That's not good. That's Kobe retirement year numbers. He's also not trying to get to the line at all. 0 free throws against both Missouri and Alabama, only 2 against Kentucky which means he isn't attacking the rim as much as he was earlier in the season.
It's been almost a month straight of performances like these. He needs to get his head out of his arse and start looking to move the ball. The most assists he had in any of those games is 4. That's terrible when you have the ball in your hands 70% of the time.

I don't disagree, I even said so in my earlier post.

Sure, I would never deny that he has certainly been in a slump. He has still been very good overall when looking back on the season so far.

Once again, don't disagree and even said earlier as well. The only thing that was said that I took exception to was the "When you're talented and shoot 20x a game, pretty likely you're going to get some season accolades". To me that is implying that he is some guy that has been jacking up shots all season and only scores points because she shoots a lot. He hasn't even taken 20 shots in a game. When looking at the season as whole, the numbers don't support that.
For the record, I would most likely put him on 2nd team and Macon on the first. I believe the AP did that.

quote:No brainer for me. Having pulled up their game by game numbers next to each other, Macon has by far had the most consistent production of the two.

The good thing about Barford's issues is that it's easy to see the problem and it's an easy fix. Someone just needs to get in his ear about paying more attention to the whole floor instead of tunneling on the defender in front of him when he has the ball. At the very least he needs to be attacking inside more for attempts at free throws. Again, we know he's capable of every bit of this, he's just not doing it for whatever reason.

Yep, seems like he's been falling into the habit of just deciding he's going to put a shot up sometimes before he's even touched the ball.

That and Macon has shown he is a willing passer if players are open.

I honestly think most of it is focus. I think we will see these seniors more focused during tournament play.
