I just saw on 247 that our OLine has only given up 2 sacks in October this year while they gave up 17 during the same stretch last year under Anderson. This is even with keeping less guys in to block than we were doing under Bielema and Enos at that time. If the guy can figure out how to recruit then we might have found a rising star.

Nobody wants to admit he can coach because his recruiting isn’t doing so well. He can coach, it’s oretty evident in the improvement and lack of talent he inherited

Is the line improved? Yes.

next project... find out how to get the center to stop dribbling the ball back to the QB every game.

And it is amplified more than normal because of how well the recruiting has been in general.

And because the offensive linemen we're going after don't have any P5 offers. This is Nutt level recruiting on the most important position of need at the moment.

I would probably trade this O line for any of HDN's lines.

While very true, OL is also probably the position more than any other where you can groom under-recruited guys to be successful.

Putting all of the O-line recruiting woes on Fry is wrong and the person that does it is either ignorant or uninformed

Reminds me of the trick play last year on 4th and 1

Wonder if the smaller splits are really making a big difference. I'm pretty optimistic about some of our young OL but we still need a lot more.

It's insane how much our O-Line quality dropped when Pittman left fat Bert I'm fairly optimistic about Fry though, especially over the stretch of the last several weeks

That stat is quite misleading for a number of reasons, but I do think the point still stands. The offensive line has appeared to do a much better job of protecting the QBs over the last three games and the QBs have been better at escaping pressure.

However, the number of games played, quality of opponent, and reduction in number of pass attempts also contribute to the sack numbers being down.

Very good point. I’d like to go look at the numbers to see how different it is.

We played South Carolina, Alabama, Auburn and Ole Miss last season during this stretch so it was definitely a tougher schedule.

Also had Cole starting these games and I'm sure the sacks increased big time.

at No. 1 Alabama, No. 21 Auburn, at Ole Miss, Coastal Carolina

We're also not under center and running play action 2/3 of the time so I'm sure that helps. Loved it when it worked but it also is extremely hard to pull off with a bad OL.

Very true. This year, he took 1 against Ole Miss and Ty took 1 against Alabama. Noland was clean against Tulsa but only had 19 attempts.

We had 40 attempts vs Bama so Ty did a great job there on getting the ball out or leaving the pocket to scramble.

I think looking at the Bama and Ole Miss games year-to-year is the truer comparison, and it certainly shows a positive trend.

2017 Bama - 5 sacks allowed - 11 QB hurries
2018 Bama - 1 sack allowed - 7 QB hurries

2017 Ole Miss - 4 sacks allowed - 9 QB hurries
2018 Ole Miss - 1 sack allowed - 0 QB hurries

Agree with others that QB personnel and scheme also account for reduction.

This is impressive and really highlights how dominate we were in that game before the entire team got injured.
