Serious question, and in the interest of full disclosure I’m not a huge Gus fan, but if the extension was signed, would it not benefit all involved to remove that distraction before the SEC championship? Why wouldn’t the university/Gus/etc make an official statement ASAP?

So this exact thing happened four years ago when we went to the SECCG.
- Media saying Texas was his "dream job" all week and could be going there
- Rumors of a deal reached Friday night
- Announced before the game on Saturday

Texas was no dream job. Arkansas is Gus’s Home, it’s where he went to school, it’s where his family is.

Texas wasn't going to offer Gus the job. Totally different scenario here. I don't think Gus is the stand up guy he wants people to think he is but I also don't see him using his home state school as a leverage ploy.
