Is that real? "He might be lighting a cigar in Indianapolis having beat Ohio State".
Awesome if so.

The ole "none of those P5 wins actually count because they didn't win their conference" technique.
That's the retarded cousin of "none of Bobby's losses counted because he didn't recruit all of the defensive players".
Sorry brother, the games have to count for something.

Meanwhile he's consistently losing to teams like Tulsa, ECU, Houston, UCF, SMU, and UTSA.
In the end it doesn't matter. People who want to look for silver linings will and that's fine. I don't begrudge people for being fans and having hope, but viewing this tenure with a heavy amount of skepticism isn't some wildly irrational take. Right now there's a lot of mental gymnastics required to portray this as a good hire.

I kinda agree, it’s just funny that people still laughed at the hire at the time
Of note: JMU was great prior to Cignetti & his record there once JMU bumped up to SunBelt was 8-3 in 2022 then 11-1 in 2023

Silver is catching heat because his resume isn't impressive and his hires aren't helping.
He could hire the 2015 Saban tree and you’d still say this btw

This is just lame and disingenuous. I'm not just hating on the guy to hate. I've given extensive reasoning for every point of view I have.

They best find some legit SEC secondary players if he's running that 4-2-5 defense.
I remember the last time a coach attempted that shite here and failed.
Willie Robinson, Robb Smith, John Chavis, and Travis Williams all ran the 4-2-5 as their base defense.
So...yeah we should probably go get some SEC caliber players.

Hiring bill belichick at NC & the staff he assembled seemed like a no brainer for success based on his resume.

The guy that said he thought coaching college would be easy?
Posted on 12/8/25 at 6:54 pm to Drewbie
lol yea there was red flags, but based on resume alone he should’ve been a home run hire.

My point is once again, nobody knows. Past stats be damned.
People have the choice to be optimistic or pessimistic. It’s fine either way. The pessimism does get tiring as it drains positive energy. But a pessimistic approach is to be expected based on recent history.

Iowa state would have been a decent win, had it not been an exhibition game.
.500 miss state team is by far his most impressive

If Silverfield wins 9 games I will be blown away.
I’ll be blown away if some Razorback “fans” give him more than one year to put out the dumpster fire and try to build something.

The portal has shown us there’s no need to wait and see. If he’s not winning in the fist 2 seasons he needs to go. We’ve got plenty of evidence to show that with the portal coaches should be able to be competitive immediately. 6 win minimum next year should be the standard.

Yea talent wasn’t the issue this year as close as we were to winning multiple games. Let silver clean up the mistakes & 6 wins should be the minimum.

Exactly. With the portal and NIL, there is no wait time needed. We've been told by the administration that NIL won't be an issue, moving forward.
If that's the case, Silverfish should start winning next year if he's worth a shite.
