Scored a fake touchdown.

Thrown out a pitch at Baum.

Among three dozen other things. I personally don't want to do any of those things. Spread that shite around. Send the poor kid living with a single mom in SW Little Rock to games. Send any special needs kid other than Canaan Sandy to do some of this stuff.

If I'm a parent of a special needs kid and I asked the university for 1/10th of what they've given Canaan Sandy, it would not happen. Because they've turned the kid into some kind of mascot. It's stupid.
You do realize that Canaan got to do all those things and gained recognition due to the fact that he is a diehard fan that went to every Razorback event possible without the Razorback's help. He has been in attendance at many Razorback events since he was a baby. He has spent more money on the Razorbacks then the majority of this board. It wasn't until recently that he started getting help from other fans and donors. Now the athletic department has stepped up and ensured that he will at least have his ticket bought. The majority of the people you mention needing attention (single mom in SW Little Rock) don't give a damn about or put forth the effort, time and money towards the Razorbacks like Canaan did. If they start doing so then they can get handouts.

Should they have a fund for special needs kids to attend Razorback events? You bet. I hope there's one day a Canaan Sandy fund that provide that. And I think there will be. But getting upset because he is supposedly stealing opportunities from other kids is silly. The free shite he gets would have just gotten worked into the budget of some liberal arts program and forgotten about if it wasn't put to good use.

I think there's a lot of misplaced anger here. Turn it toward the UofA, not him and his family. The UofA has the resources to do what they do for him for 10,000 other special needs kids if they actually wanted to. But they don't. And that's not his fault. But he may be able to change that.

The university has nothing to do with this. Why our dipchit fanbase can't get this through their head:

Beyond that we have programs ran through our Razorback Clubs or sponsored by donors that allow families and veterans to gain free admission.

So, on top of all the free-shite, he didn't really ever even need it? Financially, he had the luxury of attending a shitload of razorback events since "he was a baby"?

You're not really making your case for giving the kid more privileges, and ignoring thousands of other actually disadvantaged Arkansans who would LOVE to have 1/100th of the opportunity to attend Razorback games or do any of the stuff he's had piled on.

Its stupid.

Jesus dude. It's a kid with downs that gets nice things when it comes to Razorback athletics. Just smile at the story and go on with your day. A million other things you can be old man mad about. Why waste energy on this?

I'll take your stupid analogy, though. Do animal shelters shower ONE puppy with everything while pretending the rest don't exist? Because that's what the university does with Canaan Sandy. It's a focus of resources onto one person, and it's stupid and honestly, wrong and gross, if you could fathom for one second that there are thousands of Arkansas fans just like Canaan Sandy who are never recognized or gifted free shite.

Most Arkansas fans are borderline retarded, so I understand why you don't get it.

Nah, actually I LOVE people with disabilities, which is why showering ONE dickface with special priviliges irks me.

You call yourself a Reverend, so I'll go ahead and assume you're full of shite and have no integrity.

or his family made sacrifices to attend as many games as they could until other people (donors/ticket buyers) helped him out. You don't have to be rich to attend a Razorback game. All it takes is some sacrifices. Cut out the 2 packs a day and gambling habit and you'll get to go to a game one day.

ADD: How do you think Canaan became known? It wasn't from being the typical fan like you = bitching nonstop about everything Razorback. He gained some notority because almost everywhere the Razorbacks went he was there. When you go to games and support the Razorbacks you make friends with other people who go to games and support the Razorbacks. Those people can't make it to every game and they pass their tickets on to him since they know it will be used. If the imaginary people you mentioned made an effort to attend games or events (plenty of non-ticketed events that you can attend during non COVID times) they'd probably get the same recognition. But most of the time those people don't try to show up unless we are winning and it's a big game.... the "I'm a single mother and my kid loves the Razorbacks so this sold out game vs. Kentucky in basketball or game 3 super regional game is a must get for us.... can anybody help!!!" Funny how they never want tickets when the team isn't good or when we are playing directional state university.

Really? Tell that to all the special needs kids in Arkansas who have never been to one.

I've been to more Razorback games in all sports than I can count, and I used to have a suite at RRS. I couldn't give a shite about attending most games, and I live within 2 miles of the stadium.

It's about giving to underprivileged kids, which the university SUCKS at, yet they want us to celebrate them giving their 2000th thing to this one guy.
