Quality thread #82

Christyn Williams was named the 2017-2018 Gatorade National Girls Basketball Player of the Year on Saturday. It is another feather in the cap for the most decorated girls basketball player to ever call Arkansas home.

quote:

Washington Mystics forward and 2015 WNBA MVP Elena Delle Donne surprised Williams with the award. A senior at Central Arkansas Christian High School and future UConn Huskie, Williams is also a finalist for the prestigious Full Court Award at KATV. She has won the award twice.

quote:

The state’s three-time Gatorade Girls Basketball Player of the Year, Williams averaged 26.8 points, 10.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.8 steals per game. A member of the USA Basketball Women’s U19 National Team, she is a four-time All-State honoree and is ranked as the nation’s No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2018 by espnW. Also the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association High School Player of the Year and the Naismith Trophy High School Player of the Year, she has been chosen to play in both the McDonald’s All-American Game and the Jordan Brand Classic.

Congrats to the young lady.

Was going to ask how our woman’s program is doing then saw UCONN.

Nothing to see here

We've had a problem with big programs coming in and cherry picking the state for female basketball talent.

She didn’t give Neighbors the time of day after the kneeling episode and Dykes coaching tenure.

Mike will get his fair share and already has for 2019. 2020 is the next large instate group, so many that we won’t be able to get them all.

Can anyone blame her when UConn comes calling?

Not when they’ve been on her for years but Arkansas only made her top eight in the recruiting process and were eliminated with her top 5. She had decided before Neighbors was hired she wasn’t staying in-state and women b-ball players typically leave the state.

Yes. To wear that Hog is an honor. This is the attitude Razorback fans should always have. Second to none.

She played with the Banshees too I think. They have had a few good players through their years. Probably the best talent they had seen though.

Christyn Williams is probably the most skilled female player to ever play in Arkansas
