Long was fired because he believed that Razorback Athletics exists to support the University, not as the private plaything of spoiled delusional assholes.

My understanding is that Long got fired for moving money from the athletic dept and giving it to the Razorback foundation. The foundation gave it back to the athletic dept as a donation that was used to justify building more suites and closing in the EZ.

Yep, let’s keep things as they are. Very progressive post, needs athletics to suck so we can continue to be a victim.

Why are you so afraid of alpha people running this show? It’s obvious the beta cuck route has failed.

We blamed the coordinators until Bert was the only one left. He was the common denominator.

The Anderson hire through back the curtain on his issues with hiring coordinators.

I thought it was a bad hire at the time because his resume was extremely unimpressive and he had practically no P5 experience and questioned it on here. He was a terrible OL coach.

It was also worrisome that the RB and DB coach spots were a veritable revolving door.

That would be dumb if it was just that, our facilities had fallen near the bottom of the conference in everything but baseball.

Hell we were the last team to get a practice facility in basketball and that was from my understanding, incredibly difficult to finally get done.

My favorite thing about Long was how he took care of the facilities.

The money still sees things that are now necessary to be competitive in recruiting like the practice facility as being a reward for winning.

You can make it chicken/egg argument but Bama is currently redoing their football complex, the one they built like 5 years ago, because it's fallen to being equal to too many schools.

Our money would say "it'd be no problem, if you didn't lose to Clemson last year, win that game and get back to us".

Must be nice to have a program without that old school thinking.

Yeah their shiny new thing for that recruits was delayed a month and a half from completion.

The recruits in the second signing period will get to see it completed before signing, maybe.

Well, it has something to do with it being state money. Once it was off the books it could have been spent without having a way to audit. Again, it's what I've heard and read.

Long became too emboldened and acted as if he had no bosses. He pissed off those who do have power at an alarming rate. He did not play well with others and paid the price for slowly losing the majority of them.

Diplomacy was not his strong suit on twitter or to his bosses...

If that was the case he would be fired for cause, no buyout, and the attorney general would be meeting with him...

The Anderson hire was baffling at the time and disastrous in hind sight. The GA who coached the offensive line for one game in the Liberty Bowl would have made a better hire.

Also concerning was the noted tendency for his coaching staff to get less effective the longer they were around him.

Enos is the obvious example. A great first season followed by mediocre results from there on.

The pattern of poor hires and, even worse, good hires that rapidly faded is what doomed Bielema at Arkansas.
