Dan Wolken of all people defended us. I love Bielema as a person but he’s getting almost 6 million to not work here anymore. Seems sad now but he’ll be alright.

Who is wishing him ill will?

Bert can sit back for a year or two or for eternity if he wished and count his millions with his hot wife and new baby. Don't feel too sorry for the guy. He'll be just fine and probably will be successful again at the right school. That school just was not Arkansas. Thank God he's gone.

Three years late to get rid of this worthless POS.

I’m sure we had fans just as upset when we got rid of JLS, who had more SEC wins while being a total clown than Bert did this season.

It’s about time we showed some self-respect.

We are getting blasted for firing him coming off the field. Players, former players, media.

His own words were that he preferred it this way rather then have to wait.

While I have been a critic of his coaching job this year I wish Bielema nothing but the best.

He was the wrong coach for Arkansas and a poor fit for the SEC.

He has potential to be a great coach, he just needs to figure out the little things that consistently plagued his teams here and really hit them hard in his time off.

Not to shovel dirt on him, but I disagree with this.

Bert was plagued by some pretty big, program-defining issues here in strength and conditioning, coordinator hires, bad in-game coaching and misuse of talent.

He’s a great guy who does things the right way, but hubris and ego were largely the root cause of the above and thus his failure here.

I see him as a Frank Solich type of coach who flopped at a P5 school but could reinvent himself at a non-P5 midwestern school. He’s not a great coach, maybe not even a good coach. His iffy coordinator hires, questionable preparation, and poor game management and situational coaching sort of throw back the curtain on his ceiling as a mediocre to decent college football coach.

We blamed the coordinators until Bert was the only one left. He was the common denominator.

his maintenance of a program in the B1G did not offer much carry over to his rebuild job in the SEC. jeff long should have known that

Hiring coaches isn't a science. Bert was 68-24 at Wisconsin and had gone to two BCS bowls. It was a great hire on paper, even considering the situation he inherited at Wisconsin. Hindsight is always 20/20. Not going to criticize Long for hiring him.

The other top fan candidates didn't build a program either.

Gundy was Mile's OC prior to taking over.

Gus took over Freeze's program for a year.

Very few coaches take over a complete rebuild like was needed at Arkansas and survive. Bert is leaving the program in a better shape than he found it.

I'll criticize him. petrino had a shite load of question marks prior to hiring him, atlanta and louisville fans tried to warn us.

bielema was groomed then hired to maintain a well oiled machine at wisky. just like someone inheriting daddys money, they're good at maintaining, not so good at creating their own. he came here, in the best conference in america, to try to learn how to build a program and was still trying to learn this year. not to mention wisconsin fans tried to warn us about him and there were rumors bielema was likely about to be let go at wisky prior to us hiring him.

Every single coach has question marks. There's no such thing as a perfect candidate.
