Biddy says nothing final yet, decision on Mike is Hunter's and his only

Said final decision has not yet been made and "what I'm hearing is that there is no pressure from the BoT or anybody. whatever Hunter decides with Mike, it's going to be his and they're going to back it."
"you'd be hard pressed to find many ppl that are in Mike Andersons corner right now"
"Tuesday will give us a good look at what next year's team will be. It doesn't look like a tournament team next year, and if that's true, then why delay the inevitable."
And here comes ole sunshine Rick... "if the decision hasn't been made, then it doesn't need to be made on the one game Tomorrow night"
Biddy:
"You can have rebuild years, but you can't have it in year 8"
"you should be in the ncaa tournament 3 out every 4 yrs., 5hen build on that and take the next step. These other programs like Auburn and even Tennessee don't have near the support and infrastructure like Arkansas does."

Steinmetz/JCP will make the decision, not Yurachek.

I honestly wouldn't want to be Yurachek right now. You could go the safe route and keep Mike one more year, possibly pissing off even more fans and risking another bad season where you're forced to fire him. OR, you fire Mike now and risk having a long coaching search and making a bad hire that defines your tenure as AD. Tough call!

That's why you have the hire line up beforehand.
BCG to Dana Altman to John Pelphrey.
Stan Heath didn't seem that bad two years removed.

In a discussion of Arkansas athletics, any person that claims that something is "solely the athletic director's decision", that person immediately loses credibility in my mind. The UofA BoT and GOBN will have a say any time they damn well please.
Sorry to rain on the parade. It seems Mike will be sticking around. I hope that I'm wrong.

The final decider is really Tommy Boyer. If he's turned on Mike, it's over.

Why does firing Mike end up being a risk having a long search and having a bad hire. Could be a short search and bad hire, or long search and great hire, or even short search and great hire or any multiple possibilities in between. There is always a risk. However, Mike has made that risk low. Chances are good that anyone hired will be at least an improvement. BTW, bball hiring doesn't define your tenure. Football hires do.

There are many HCs out there worse than Mike. Hiring a better coach isn't a guarantee, don't kid yourself.

This just has the coaching change feel to it. Take your money and TYFYS Coach Anderson

Correct. I'm sure Tommy wasn't happy with the FT shooting this season.

It's not a normal situation. There is too much history and family involved to have a smooth breakup at this point. It's a delicate dance and I doubt Yurachek knew about it when he took the job.
I wish Mike would just step down. But how does he do that when Melvin and TJ are relying on him for a job? If Mike retires those guys are unemployed, Mike is so close to them that I don't think he'll step down voluntarily and put his own family out of a job. I just hope it doesn't get ugly because we've pretty much buried the hatchet with Nolan and waking those demons is the last thing we need.

People always get upset after a firing.
We had Few blasting over Nolan's firing. We had Donovan blasting over Pelphrey's. We had the national media over Nutt's. The fan's over petrino. The media over Heath.
The only recent firing we've had go "well" was Bert's, partly because he knew he didn't keep his end of the bargain partly because he was paid in full to go away.

We should be able to get someone pretty good this time around. There were underlying factors obviously with the Heath/Pel hires, the Mike hire was just lazy by Jeff Long IMO. No reason we don't improve with the next hire

I wouldn't say it was lazy. All time low attendance records for BWA was being set by pel, the interest in the program was at a low, off the court issues were never fully cleaned up.
Mike did exactly what he was needed to do for the program, the only area he failed was NCAA tournament success. He renergized the fanbase, steered the program through the apr mess, graduated players, reconnected the program to the players not only from the Nolan era but also the Sutton era. No one can make a serious argument that the program is in worse shape today than the day he took over.
Jimmy Dykes was a lazy hire, took a little while but he's getting back to his knows exactly what it takes to win in college basketball persona on tv again.

We are a transfer or two away to being in the APR mess again.
I think Mikes already quit, whether we fire him or not. See the lack of crutin news in the last 7 days.
If my arse is on the line, and I need to fill a glaring hole with Gafford leaving, I'm going to be everywhere searching for his replacement, and people are going to know I am doing it so they know I haven't quit.
