quote:

The team’s first practice of the year took place on a muggy, hot August day in Mount Vernon, but that didn’t keep fans—and media—away. In lieu of a professional PA system you might find at a place like Baylor’s practice field, someone pulled a pickup truck around the side of the field and cranked the stereo, and the young men ran blocking drills to the beat of Future’s “Just Like Bruddas.”
First Baptist Church pastor Pepper Puryear, who leads one of the town’s largest congregations, stood away from the field, off in the shade. When I first met Puryear in June, he explained that, as a pastor, he’s “in the business of redemption and second chances.” Meanwhile, members of the Ramsay family sat in camping chairs on the sideline. The Ramsays are one of the community’s most prominent families—its members include the district attorney, a legendary county judge, a former five-term state legislator, two Baylor law grads, and Briles’s former assistant head of campus recruiting during his time in Waco. When Mount Vernon officials first reached out to Briles, they did so through the Ramsays.

Oh look someone gets it, and isn't such a baby back bitch to pull the trigger.

I am not getting off this train guys. Baylor actually if anyone remembers played good defense, and was one of the most prolific offenses every year. They always had a good D line which we need badly right now.

Dude can coach football, and is an actual highschool football legend in Texas unlike chaggie. People say he couldn't possibly recruit now, but I think that is pure horseshite. Kids these days were like 10 when all of that happened, and seriously have no clue, nor care what happened.

I mean Briles would be an upgrade over morris from an X and O perspective but you don't have to blatantly lie.

they were a meh defense in the big 12.

I think we all agree that he can coach, but with today's times a major program isn't going to touch Briles with a 10' pole.

For Briles to get back in the college game, a G5 is going to have to give him a chance at redemption first, is my opinion. A Texas State or Texas El Paso type would probably be right up his alley. Get a good 3-4 years in at a place like one of those, and things start to move. Likely have a game on ESPN at some time, or have an opportunity to be featured on ESPN Game Day and get an apology tour going and then it is squashed.

Petrino went that route, but wasn't accused of the rape program. Left Arkansas in a bad way, sat a year, went to WKU and put in his time. Then, hired back at Louisville.

If I recall, wasn't there an absolute shite storm when there were rumors of him being thought about for an OC at some major university over the last year?

Nobody cared about what he did to Arkansas, except Arkansas fans, when he was smoking people with Lamar Jackson. It only got brought up again after he got fired.

Also I went back and checked their defense rankings. They got 36th twice, and 40 something once (which to us would look like a high caliber defense) the rest of the time they were not very good, but better than the shite we have endured since 2014.

All the while scoring in the 40s every game, and being a top 10 offense.

The Twitter patrol only works if you let them. If you ignore them they go away after it is too late. A month after the hire they would be gone.

Tenner should have hired schiano, and clay travis + his gang of Twitter followers would have shut up, and moved on.

Not in the age of BLM, and Me Too... They lay in wait and rally constantly until something happens. Things are different today bro.

No they are just a loud stupid minority, composed mainly of bots. They have no real power outside of doxxing people, and sending mean Twitter DMs with death threats. Yet everyone involved are public figures, and politically connected people at that. So their death threats end up in arrests, and there is nothing to doxx.

Winning, and doing an apology tour is usually all that is required. If Briles would donate to some super left leaning charity, and said he was sorry for the patriarchy they would leave him alone because he was being a good little goy, and towing the company line.

Yeah anyone who weathers the two week storm of the Twitter mafia is usually fine. Why all these folks continue to cower to them is beyond me. You’d think there’d be some crisis management firms out there that would actually give some sound advice on the subject. They’ll get distracted by their next outrage and move on sooner than later, if you wait them out.

As long as we’re saying crazy shite, why not Urban? Right? He’ll have taken his two years off and will be looking. He’s a fricking sociopath so you just have to appeal to his vanity and make him the highest paid coach in the world. Boom! Now he’s cheating his balls of on the hill.
