I feel like I’m taking crazy pills when it comes to the “KJ can’t throw” narrative. Admittedly he’s looked bad this year but I’ve seen the guy move an offense through the air.

The first game he ever started he torched Mizzou on the road. Why has Briles increasingly tightened the leash on the passing offense since then?

I honestly believe it’s less about kj and more about our receivers. People can say what they want but we really just don’t have any receivers he trusts this year. Our best is probably Jackson who’s a sophomore but it’s sad none of the youngest guys are stepping up. The guys we put out there aren’t cutting it. Whether it be because they can’t get open or kj doesn’t trust them but either way something has to change

That’s a huge whiff by the staff. I don’t care if we lost Treylon Burks this year and Mike Woods last year. That’s a joke of an excuse. If you’re not replacing great players with other great players then you’ve failed.

This is the SEC not the PAC 10. Our head coach and coordinators make almost 10 million combined. Get better players or gtfo.

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills when people say he can throw anything but deep. Every cross route seems like it’s behind. Every out seems like it’s too high. Every swing seems like it’s too tall.

We have 4-5 decent receivers. The problem is KJ’s inability to get them the ball, and an OC who isn’t calling plays to maximize production from the players we have.

You can’t tell me Knox couldn’t body out a defender on a short slant if KJ can just get the ball close. You can’t tell me we can’t go up high with our 6’5” guy over a corner or a safety. Why don’t we? Why don’t we rub receivers open?

Our offense has an extremely simple route tree and we don't run overly well executed routes or catch well consistently.

Combine that with kjs accuracy being mediocre and you have our passing attack.

Well, we are two losses in, with our offensive and defensive leaders injured. It’s well past time to try something else, challenge some people to step up, and see what they can do. If our offense doesn’t sustain 5-6 good, long drives, State is going to throw for 500 on us.

landers can’t even catch go balls where he’s wide open and it hits him in the hands what makes you think he’ll make a contested catch

They will probably do that anyway. How good are they inside the red zone?

How can we miss on every guy? Are they all Tarzan plays like Jane? Or is it the QB?

He had 7 receptions for 123 vs Missouri State. That’s a good day for any receiver.

I’m just saying, he can and does catch the ball. Like the other poster said, blaming our receivers means we whiffed on 8-10 players. What are the odds? Maybe our QB is just incapable of getting them the ball.

I mean we’ve really only had like 4 or 5 above average SEC caliber receivers in the past decade. We’ve whiffed way more at that spot than hit, in my opinion.

So, I believe KJ has been injured the majority of the season and the last game aggravated that injury further.

he made those throws last season, just look at the OM game last year for example!

Maybe, but that doesn’t mean they all can’t catch, or shouldn’t be trusted enough to be thrown to.

I’ve thought this as well. When you think about the beating KJ takes regularly, injury is inevitable, as is the fact that some of those injuries will linger or become chronic.

Much easier to shut down the perimeter passing game and make us one dimensional since we can’t throw slant routes with accuracy.

Doesnt help that our WRs run sideways with the ball inside the 20s every damn time
