...At the previous regime in the last few weeks?

JCP digging at Bielema by saying Arkansas can't accept a lazy coach. Chad Morris making his comments on investing rather than spending. There's been others that I'm not remembering right now.

Anyways, the investment vs spending comments have had me thinking about Jeff Long a little bit. Anyone else get the feeling that Jeff Long may have been on to something with Bielema's ridiculous buyout and contract? Look at some of the recent coaching hires around this league. Arkansas is knocking it out of the park comparatively. And have been for awhile.

It may be in Arkansas's best interest to not put their head coaches on a short leash. If we have all these disadvantages that we have all discussed until we were blue in the face, there has to be SOMETHING that makes it worth a coach's while to come here when they could choose a Tennessee or an LSU instead.

Giving Bielema a 12 million dollar buyout may not be as bad a thing as we suspect.

Programs take on the persona of their head coach. We had a fat, lazy slob leading ours thus the results.

Morris will infuse a ton of energy if nothing else.

Things were stale and the fan base was apathetic.

The dude wore gym shorts and slip on sandals to the college world series.

He was making 4 million dollars a year.

It was a f-ing disgrace.

Oh yeah, absolutely. Bielema sucks. I was thinking more about the approach of outspending your opponents though.

I just wonder if giving Bielema 5 years and a damn nice contract don't make Arkansas a more attractive job than it could be.

We are certainly hiring better than say Tennessee, LSU, Ole Miss and IMO Miss State recently. Argument could be made that we hired better than Aggy as well, although that doesn't really jive with what I'm saying though because they just set the bar for throwing ridiculous money at a coach.

I think looking back we will be glad that they threw a lot of money at Bielema and gave him 5 years.

Yeah, but he was cool, hip, and all that jazz. I actually respect the way Bielema has been classy through the transition, although it does serve him well when he is ready to get back in the game.

Enjoying a convo I'm overhearing here at work. Someone who's definitely connected albeit not in a rich donor way but still connected giving his opinion on things.

Like me, he's not fan of that what's his name that didn't come home.

Not sure what is cool or hip about being fat and trashy.

He wore those f-ing slip on sandals on the golf course.

Lol.
I'm surprised that's even allowed where he played. I guess they probably make exceptions for the head hog.

Didn't see this as a dig at Bielema. I think its just part of Morris's philosophy. Bielema was laid back to the point where the team got lazy too. Clearly evident the last two years.

THIS!!!

This was what drove me insane. You could go get a bunch of no talent fat midgets to play Alabama every week and if they by god gave 110% as long as they had a hog jersey on I would support those guys. The effort I saw this season made me daydream of Nolan Richardson running these lazy SOB til they puked every damn day. If I had been in charge we would have pulled one scholly each week and I would have personally delivered that a-hole to McDonalds to pick up an application. I am extremely pessimistic about this hire but when he told those frickers to sit up straight and pay attention it warmed my heart.

You're reaching but I took Morris' mispronunciation of Bielema's name as a dig. He's known to have taken offense to Bert's comments about the spread. Coaches are generally a tight knit community. I think he probably knows how to pronounce his name, but it's apparent the two aren't friends, thus the mispronunciation.

I couldn't help but compare the 2 while listening to Coach M talk to the guys the other day and thinking how opposite they are - night & day. I don't imagine they'd be friends; football looks to be the one & only thing they have in common, but their philosophies & passion for it - or lack thereof in Bert's case - couldn't be any different. BB never seemed like a coach to me but more like an older brother or friend to the players who was just hanging out with them. I don't know how he related to & interacted with his team at WI, but at AR, he never seemed to have a coach's mentality or demeanor, & honestly, I never felt he gave too much of a shite about winning or losing.

We were the real "Life Champions" of the SEC the last couple of seasons.

He had to do it on purpose. You're telling me that he did nooooo research? He didn't hear multiple times his predecessors last name in interviews. Yep the U of A board and leaders referred to him as Bert, or Cool Aid Man?

He fricking knew haha. Unless it was a weird brain malfunction under pressure, but that dude seems matticulous (sp?) as hell. Lol
