This is hitting on an interesting question of mathematical models as our approximations of real world phenomena.

1. Find a negative spin and whine about it

The problem with these recruiting sites is that they rate based on program prestige and not on talent. If Drew Sanders was offered a scholarship to Bama but signed with Arkansas then he gets dropped from a five to a low four star just like that. Folks will say that if he doesn't go to Bama then that means he is no good.

A player can be more talented but still be a bad player. A player who lacks talent can still close the gap by being a better player.

Still continuing with the emotional arguments.
Realizing it’s basically impossible for us to make the playoffs in their current format is not being a pessimist. We can still be really good with good team culture and coaching while trying to improve our recruiting and pedigree over time. But I’m not going to let myself be perpetually disappointed and think we can go 12-0 every year.

Just the simple fact that we are arguing about winning 9 games when a couple years ago we were getting embarrassed by FCS teams makes me smile.
