Did you forget how good Peyton Holt was last year both offensively and defensively?

Another freshman spotlight, Gabe Gaeckle by Baseball America

quote:

@BaseballAmerica

Everything you need to know about @RazorbackBSB freshman Gabe Gaeckle and his LETHAL two-pitch mix

quote:

In 2022, Gaeckle had an outstanding showing on the summer circuit that culminated in a strong performance at the Area Code Games. He then went on to have one of the best spring seasons of any high school pitcher in the country to the tune of a minuscule 0.59 ERA and a sparkling strikeout-to-walk ratio of 117-to-9 across 59.1 innings.

Gaeckle had interest as early as the second round of the draft, so needless to say that getting him to campus was a massive win for Coach Dave Van Horn and his staff.

Lmao.

I think he's referring to his absurdly great stats.

Well no, but I also didn't forget he wasn't the 3rd baseman either. I wasn't exactly advocating to bench him. I just like the look of Jones at 3rd a lot.

If I was forced into a choice, I'd probably bench Stovall. It's certainly an embarrassment of riches situation, though. It's not like any of them outright suck.

I would think if his bat was strong enough we’d find some DH or corner OF time for him.

Says a lot about how stacked we are. It's definitely a good problem to have.

We are recruiting at an elite level. I hope DVH can get one. I just want one. I feel like my Hog fandom will be as complete as it can possibly (realistically) be with a natty in baseball.

Football in 64, basketball in 94, baseball in 24.

It's happening.

Holt is utility, played SS in HS and SS/3B/2B at Crowder. Can play all 3 well.

His bat is probably too good to leave out of the lineup regardless.

Stovall if healthy was getting 1st rd draft talk freshman year so who knows there. If he regains form idk how this team loses. The only real question mark for the squad is the bats with a lot of new guys in the lineup.

Dunno why you got downvoted, you're not wrong.

If Stovall plays to projections then there's no spot for Jones, but so far that's proven to be a rather large if.

I would love to see Stovall back in form he was a favorite of mine. He was so good both ways.

Hoping last year was just injury and at 100% he finds it again.

Love how we went from 'frick we have no catchers' to 'frick we have too many catchers' in one offseason.

Side note. It's wild how young most of our former players hurry to get engaged/married after playing.

Can't make this up. Kjerstad engaged like 2 hours ago.

Ramage got hitched last year.

Paulette engaged

Slavesn, married with a kid.

Wick engaged.

They all seem to get a GF early on and never dump them. Kinda odd.
