Can't make so many mistakes and expect to win an SEC road game. Tough day at the office. I think we're on a bit of a streak in terms of games with at least one error committed.

If we're being honest with ourselves, Auburn outplayed us and out hit us this entire series.
We won it by virtue of another great Hagen performance, some key defensive plays in big spots (especially when they had RISP), and an improbable clutch homer by Helfrick.
We didn’t hit well, we didn’t play well in the field (especially in the OF), and we ran the bases like an 8U travel ball team.
Still got the series W and will remain #1 in the polls. On to UALR and LSU.

Our pitching beyond Hagen is a little scary right now. Tygart and Molina issue a lot of walks and can't go deep.
The pen is deep but asking 4-5 innings every Sat & Sun is not great.

If I'm an opposing coach, I'm testing the right side of our infield with bunts on the first base side multiple times a game. It's a fricking circus every time.

Hogs didn’t play well this weekend all around.
Still got the series Dub, on the road, against a top 25 squad.
Hogs have played 22 games to this point and won 19 of them. That dog’ll hunt.

Dietz may be back next week, doubt he'd see action vs LSU unless the game is well out of hand but another big arm for the pen.

Is it time to fire Dave yet? He lost a game.

As with most series in baseball, there are takeaways good and bad.
The Good
- Hagen did Hagen things.
- We made some big outs defensively when we really needed them to get out of some jams, specifically Friday night.
- Helfrick's nuts might've dropped.
- Edmunson emerged as a potential platoon guy in the outfield.
- McEntire might be our second best pitcher, or at least most valuable one after Hagen.
- We've likely seen the last of Rowland on the weekends.
- I thought Hobbs did a really good job managing on Friday night in one of the weirder games memory. He seemed to make the right moves and push the right buttons, and it paid off in a win.
The Bad
- Tygart seems to have developed (or redeveloped) his command issues. I'm not sure what we do about Saturdays, because I'm not sure Tygart can go more than 4 innings even on a good outing.
- Hopefully Diggs broke out of his funk yesterday, because he was slumping.
- Bullpen got eaten up, but it's probably not the worst thing for the freshmen to hit some adversity and grow from it.
- Our fielding (particularly in the OF) looked like 8U travel ball at times, and will likely be an area of focus this week. To be fair, Plainsman is an extremely weird park that isn't well lit in the outfield.
- We derped hard on the basepaths.
Other
- Molina will be fine — he pitched okay, just couldn't hit his spots and still left the game with a 5-1 lead.
- Holt got very limited PT this weekend, only coming to the plate once for a PH strikeout. Curious what his role will be, but there's nowhere to platoon him in the IF if Stovall and Sandlot keep hitting.
- Make no mistake, Auburn is a really good team and Butch Thompson is a really good coach. They’re way too good to have started out 0-6 in conference play. I’d argue they outhit and outplayed us this series, we just made the outs and the big hit when we needed them.
Around the SEC
- Taking a look around the SEC, and the parity is on display.
- Vandy went from dominating Auburn last weekend to on the verge of getting swept by USCe.
- Florida-LSU and Alabama-Georgia have been pretty entertaining
- Most of the other series are going to end 2-1, with a ton of rubber matches yesterday and today. I don't believe anyone can sweep today except for Georgia and South Carolina, both of which would be unranked teams sweeping top 11 teams. That’s baseball, Suzyn.

LSU about to lose back to back series. 8-2 UF in the 8th.

If Florida's young pitchers round into form, they will be dangerous.

UF run rules LSU 12-2.
We'll get a mad LSU squad Thursday off back to back series losses.

You’d have thought LSU would’ve been mad this weekend.

Looks like the kind of team Baum eats alive. Just need to give them a reason to stay loud.

Can't wait for Terrific Tales' dumb arse to tell us how the umps are conspiring against LSU when we kick their asses this coming weekend.

Woof…that dude/chick is one of the dumbest I’ve had contact with on the rant in a while. Yeesh.
