Question now is who pitches tomorrow?

Gotta win 2 tomorrow. Assume Wood starts against SEMO, I have no idea who starts against KSU in the night game unless we go Johnny Wholestaff and use an opener (DVH hinted that Gaeckle could be used in this role).

Good news is we only used 2 pitchers tonight, and Bybee isn’t a featured reliever. Bad news is that KSU only used 2 pitchers as well.

Yep, 6 runs with Hagen on the mound should be a winner every time.

We just find ways to lose in the postseason all there is to it.

DVH took a huge risk allowing Smith to pitch to Culpepper and paid the price.

This.

His inability to locate after the 4th was a bad sign.

Bats did enough tonight. Plating 6 runs in a Hagen start is usually more than enough (hell he’s usually gotten 2 or 3 this season).

For Hagen, this isn’t as bad as his TCU loss last year, but it’s close. This team has the 2nd lowest team BA in the tournament and they took him for a ride.

Group chat thought 2 runs with our pitching would be enough. That fifth inning might go in the books as one of the worst ever, considering the stakes.

Season’s not over. We’re still at Baum and our bats are doing better.

Could Wood, McEntire, and Gaeckle start the next three games and we go 3-0?

It’s not THAT unlikely.

No you don’t, otherwise you wouldn’t have brought it to our attention twice now.

No chance with Mac one game will just have to be whoever is left I'm not sure Mac pitches again unless it's a blowout either side.

I’m not even sure DVH would trust Mac with a huge lead anymore.

He blew a big lead to Bama in a Hagen start earlier this season, and gave up 4 runs in one inning to flip the SEMO game on its head. That had consequences that bled into tonight (having to blow Gaeckle last night in unforeseen long relief).

The last time Arkansas I believe started a regional 1-1 and won it was back in 2004.

Yeah it still just baffles me how so many of our arms just completely fell off. Gaeckle about the only one that was legit all year.

I put the failures on both pitching and hitting.

Leaving too many runners on base.

I think we rely too much on dotting the corners and getting batters to swing at pitches out of the zone.

The scouting report got out on us, opposing teams got more disciplined started making us work over the plate more and earn strikeouts, and those strikeouts turned into walks or deep counts.

Case in point - go look at Mississippi State’s approach in that series. They were extremely disciplined and refused to swing at anything close, and they worked our staff for 25 walks in the series (including 7 from Hagen and Gaeckle).

I mean SEMO has no pitching left and we should pop them for possible 20 if we wanted or need to. Winning 2 from KSU is doable they are not very good even if we threw a bullpen game on Monday I'd still like our chances.

KSU touched SEMO for 19 runs and then was the first team to shell Hagen Smith all year.

Hagen gave up 9 earned runs all season in SEC play. KSU got him for 6 in one inning.

I’m going to table any thought of them not being good.

They're not though, they are a mid level .500 B12 team that rivals us in hitting (63rd and we're 64th) only they face much worse pitching than we do to still hit that bad. Those are the teams you can usually come back on in a regional.

We touched SEMO for 17 and KSU for 6.

Hagen completely losing it in the 5th with back to back walks and no command would have gotten touched up by any 2 or 3 seed tonight.

Better hire Vitello before he wins a ring at Tennessee and becomes untouchable.

DVH will never win it. Why would Vitello come here?

DVH will be here another 10 years and will do nothing
