Jesus, it's McNeese St.
He's still hitting just above Mendoza

Pretty clear to see he's found his stroke. Opponent is irrelevant look at the swing. Same thing DVH said.

Aloha is responsible for 5 of our 9 runs today.

Anybody got any strong opinions about what we should be doing at catcher? All 4 have really struggled at the plate so far. Are we already getting to the point where we just concede the position offensively and go for great defense? Still time to keep trying Helfrick and White out there?

Rowland actually got a hit yesterday and has been nice at drawing walks this year. Wouldn’t surprise me if he gets a little more of a shot since he’s clearly our best defensive catcher. Helfrick just looks lost right now

I just think over time Rowland's true hand will show and will go back to being a complete black hole in the lineup again. There's a reason why he hasn't been playing especially considering DVH's complete loyalty to his upperclassmen and seniors in general.

Not sure I’d say “all 4” since Polk has been doing pretty well. He was batting .300 before his PH yesterday, and still has one of the better slugging % on the team. However, he’s not a good defensive catcher if last season is any indication, and I anticipate him getting into the lineup in a DH or PH role only. DVH seems to have warmed to him, and he has a good bit of pop.
I think Helfrick is a midweek player for the foreseeable future until we encounter another weekend doubleheader. He just looks lost at the plate right now and has struggled defensively (he doesn’t receive or frame well).
White isn’t exactly Casey Optiz defensively but he’s an experienced upperclassman and can hit.
Rowland was our worst hitter last year but is our best defensive catcher by far. I still think he’s a midweek or doubleheader option depending on our weekend opponent.

If I'm coach, I haven't seen enough at the plate from any of them to justify putting anything but the most solid defensive catcher out there.
I think at the end of the day when it's like this you just go with the guy that makes you feel the most comfortable with a runner on 3rd. Right now that seems like Rowland.

It’s less at bats…but Rowland has the highest OB% on the team.
