We could not even go to Nashville or Hoover and we would still be a top 8. I’ll bet my house on it.

I’d feel better with 20 wins. Last year we had 18 and didn’t even host a regional.

I’d hate to be on a 5 game losing streak when the committee is try to split hairs on the 7-10 seed.

Not even the same scenario as last year.

Arkansas lost two games to a bad to mediocre Alabama team on the road to close out the season. Turned around and lost to them again to open SECt play.

Lost 4 SEC series on the season. Had a SOS of 26. Had 16 losses to Q1 teams. Had 21 wins vs. Q1 teams, 7 of which came in the post season. So ended regular season with just 14 Q1 wins, and 15 losses.

Arkansas can lose all 3 to Vandy and their RPI will likely stay the same, SOS will go up, and would still have the best Q1 record in the league and nation at 19-10.

To put this season in perspective...The 2021 team went 23-7 vs. Q1 teams prior to post season play. This team is currently 19-7.

Most important stat: Arkansas now leads the SEC in ERA in conference games.

Another stat of note...Vanderbilt has lost 1 SEC game at home all season.

Ole Miss - Sweep
Georgia - Sweep
South Carolina - 2/3
Kentucky - Sweep

Back to back perfect Sundays for the hogs. LSU’s loss was such a sweet cherry on top.

It’ll be interesting to see if we are in partial ‘shut it down’ mode to rest for the regionals given that we have a top 8 seed wrapped up.

DVH said in postgame that he felt like his batters were tired so he was going to lock the cages and not let them hit today (and maybe tomorrow).

We also only used 5 pitchers this past weekend, and it’s a shorter week because it’s a Thursday-Saturday series with travel, so I’m betting we see a bunch of bullpen arms this next weekend and pitch counts for Hagen and Hunter.

I know we’re 1.5 ahead of LSU and 1 ahead of Florida for the SEC crown, but I also think part of DVH is still haunted by 2021 and he knows the importance of health and rest heading into the postseason.

You and me both. I wonder where we go with Tygart going forward. Does he just get more of the pie from McEntire and we try to reduce the game to game wear on all arms.

I wouldn’t be shocked if DVH’s end game with his platooning style this year is Omaha where you get a day in between each game and could theoretically always be fresh with those three platoons.

My favorite thing about DVH is that he loves to win. I doubt he packs it in this weekend but he surprises me all the time so who knows.

I really hope Wake finishes out the season strong and holds onto the #1 ranking and seed.

Luckily they play a really bad Virginia Tech team this weekend so surely they can at least take 2/3. I think we’ll be fine to avoid #1

Yep, will be just to give guys some prep like Wegner and some arms that have been overly rested. (Regarding SEC tournament)

I wouldn't play the rest of our starters. Zero benefits.

Absolutely no way anyone consider shutting down this weekend.

SEC Tourney, yea probably. This weekend? No chance. We’ve had too many guys out that need live pitching and you can’t have hitters go what would be two full weeks without legit at bats.

Play to win it all this weekend. Take next week off.

DVH is a competitor. Guarantee he wants the regular season title. Shut it down after the vandy series or in game 3 depending how the weekend shakes out

Next weekend should be another pitcher's duel for the most part. Vandy has been struggling offensivly their last few SEC series not even averaging 5 runs a game.

I think a lot of it will depend on the scenarios we have of winning the league or not. If that’s already locked up or a foregone conclusion on Sunday, I could see him starting to shut it down. But probably won’t before then. Just start praying now we don’t have something happen like what happened to Slavens in Hoover in 2021

Agreed. Basically a Super Regional practice session against Omaha caliber teams these last two weekends.

Some interesting stats about Vandy:
1-5 in their last 6 conference games
4-8 in their last 12 conference games
have lost 3 of their last 4 SEC series
