Devo, Williams, and Notae regressing and not developing has nothing to do with the transfer portal.
Was thinking on this last night
Before last night Devo was starting to play like we expected him to after a very slow start to the season. I also think asking him to play out of position too much has hurt alot. On the defensive end I really don't get it, he fouls more now early now which has been a huge issue. Most have been fairly dumb fouls too.
Jwill is just way too passive to be a main focal point on offense. He is a great big at passing out of the high post but he passing up so many open shots.
JD has been the biggest drop off in my eyes. He has always been a streaky player but shooting 5% less from deep from last year is no excuse to this point in the season.

In the 2020 NCAA tournament we saw two Power conference schools in the 12 seed but that was because they wouldn't have made the field but won their conference tournament
Why did you take so long to ask?
Like I said we are a 12 seed at best.
Just wanted to reiterate what I said very early on. We are not good.
You thought we'd recover and me may get a little bit better but we'll have to become a lock down defensive team to compete. Not very likely.

Anyone local with access have any sound bites from Muss?
I just don't see his personality handling a season like this very well.
I hope he remains positive with the Arkansas underclassmen and doesn't blow this team up with his tendency to act like a child.

Jaylin Williams has the build and talent to be a top player in the game. There is enough talent around him to at least make the tourney. I bet they find a way to turn things around and make it happen. The talent and coaching are there.

Yeah but unless you think we were winning the SEC tournament at best I don't think that made any sense. That is why I said what I said. To be clear, I thought the hot takes were silly after Oklahoma but I wasn't laughing cause you thought we would barely side into the tournament.

Yeah and we still might recover a decent bit, the problem is we are in almost too big of a hole now. I obviously thought this team would be better like many here but I didn't give any hot takes or think they were world beaters. The problem is you can also argue we got a bit worse from the Oklahoma game.
I was even one that pointed out our fans were dumb for coming after Goodman after he didn't rank us because we hadn't played anyone good. We rarely out performed our metrics during the easy OOC play. I think I said that a few times in game threads as well.

I think you are right overall but two Quad 3 losses are very hard to overcome. It would take some big road/home wins to make it happen. At least the opportunity is there because the league is good but its going to take a massive step up in play quick. A&M is a very solid team, they could run us out the gym quickly if they don't show up this weekend.

We CAN'T shoot. We would have to turn into a team that plays ferocious D and who shares the ball at all costs. We are the complete opposite of that.

I don't really think he does any of that off the court or at least not that we know of

So is their a chance we still make the tournament or are we looking like an NIT team? Losing to vandy at home looks pretty horrible

Because of how strong the league is, I guess its still possible but hard to overcome two quad three losses. Basically can't have any more bad losses and have to win at least a few quad 1 games I would guess

Honestly, they are not even this if they don't get better.
I think at some point this team will turn a corner of sorts but I believe it will be too late and not a big enough of an improvement to matter.
As others of said, the biggest goal now should be keep the incoming class together and try to get some of the players that will return next year to take a step up in play before the season ends.

They're all signed though?

Yes, which is a great sign but Smith and now Walsh do have some pro options if they wanted I would assume.
I'm not saying I expect any of that at all. Smith had some positives posts about the team last week after the Miss St lost anyway.

The NIT is going to be an uphill battle. We have a bad OOC loss, coupled with 2 losses in league play to two teams who will finish middle or bottom half of league.
According to Warrennolan.com this morning…we have Quad 2 and 3 losses. NET is 94. That’s going to be tough to recover from, even to make NIT. These guys screw around and lose to Missouri at home next week, and it’s season over.
In order to make any tourney, this team cannot lose to a bad team. Bad NET teams in league play are Georgia(238), Missouri(237), Ole Miss(126), South Carolina(111). Arkansas must beat mediocre NET teams in aTm(60), Florida(42), and avenge loss to State(37).
Hogs will need to beat a couple high NET teams(LSU, Auburn, Tennessee, Kentucky) at home. May actually need more than a couple wins there.

The crazy thing is there are probably like 8 or so Quad 1 games left. In some years, like 2016, the chances would be close to over already because the league was so down.
Bottom line, plenty of opportunity to rebound is there if this team starts getting significantly better everyday
