Porkatarian just confirmed Marshall will be our next head coach.

So we can now cross him off the list of potential candidates. Who's next?

Some dipswad at hoopdirt with 54 tweets, or a Arkansas media joke like Aaron Nolan isn't going to break who the next coach will be.

News will break from the former employer or the SEC Network.

Some trustees wanted to wait and talk to Chris Beard after the final four, before we offered anybody else.

We came to an agreement in principal with Kelvin Sampson last weekend. He had the contract in hard, but never signed it. We moved on to Plan B, and Sampson got a nice raise and extension to stay at Houston.

We offered Eric Musselman, but the BOT Athletic Committee wouldn’t approve it. Apparently EM has some skeletons in the closet.

Yurachek met with and offered the job to Gregg Marshall last night. Hearing he will be our next head coach.

Flame away!

Porkatarian out...

He wasn’t wrong at all there. We had Sampson then Houston caved on the coach in waiting thing. HY wasn’t about to do that and he let Sampson walk.

I think KS was never an option, it was drummed up rumors because HY worked with him, and the media saw it as the quick hire to jump on.

HY is looking for youth and passion, not a guy who is about to retire.

I think the board has always had their mind on 3 guys since the start. CB, EM, and GM.

Wonder what WKJ Enterprises out of Bolder, CO would be doing in Fayetteville? Probably doing some engineering consulting work.

Come on guys you are better than this. At least pull the Tail # and check the flight history of these planes.

Gregg Marshall makes $3.5 million a year. He got huge raise to turn down Alabama a few years ago.

Let me ask you guys this, is our first option to overpay GM to leave Wichita? Is he worth 5 million a year? His record in the AAC isn't that impressive.

Marshall making top 5 money doesn’t really excite me all that much TBH. I’m guessing we’d have to go north of $4M to get him. That just doesn’t make sense.

Can't really answer this without knowing the other options. I do think he is the best/most realistic coach we can grab. I would rather be overpaying for Marshall than underpaying for some of the other options.
