Like the weakest in the recruiting era. Either some kids are going to have to blow up out of nowhere or we are going to have to step up our game out of state big time.

The running back at LR McClellan bears keeping an eye on. Pierre Strong. A little light at 180, not super blazing speed but good vision and moves in traffic. Seems to get loose a lot.

HUDL Video

Would like to see Monta Thomas (Hermitage) against stiffer competition. He is a man among boys in 2A, much like Devin White was in LA.

Pierre has a "glide" to him that you see with big time backs.

Between pioneer starting the thread and weak in state class I'm having doubts this will be a good year on the recruiting trail but hopefully I'm wrong.

Hopefully he will keep the first post updated, no offense, but last years OP lacked links and info, had to dig to find, but thanks for starting it.

2018:

We're hosting Connor Vanover on an unofficial today for the Tennessee game. I didn't realize he was up to #21 overall player for the class. Everyone says he's a legit Hog lock.

It's crazy that we produce about as much quality talent in hoops than football, the State has pumped out some serious basketball talent the last few years and continues to do so.

Probably about as well as Portis. His game is a clone of Bobby's inside and outside game with a beautiful shot from anywhere on the floor.

Also, he's put on a LOT of weight/muscle over the last year, looks about like Portis did freshman year.

or Mickelson. CV doesnt move as well as bobby, which is understandable.

I don't see really any Mickelson in his game. He's a Bobby clone but 7'2" and a better outside shooter than Portis.

both Mick and CV have better range than Portis, but neither have his body control. neither can run the floor like bobby either. CV has some private coaching for flexibility and movement from what ive heard, but at 7-2 you are what you are.

not saying Vanover isnt an intriguing talent, and im a fan (i played at AB too), but i wonder how he'll hold up playing man at the next level and playing with his back to the basket. at worst i think hed be a great situational player rather than someone to build a team around.

CV keeps getting better and better, and yeah at 7'2" running the floor isn't going to be something he's asked or needed to do. But the kid is an elite prospect for a reason. He's actually higher rated than Portis at this point in time, Portis was #18 overall and CV is #17 on 247. That is a player you build a team around, and something very very few teams could ever match, a 7'2" big man that can drain outside shots and 3's like it's nothing. He's so similar to BP offensively with more range and a better shot. Makes me foam at the mouth the possibilities he brings to the table.

We need a young stud sharpshooter to run the pick and roll with him so badly.
