3 positions where we lost some production after this past season. Want to get everyones thoughts on what they think these 3 positions look like starting 2016. Obviously, we have recruited pretty well at all the spots this season and the last couple of seasons.
OFFENSIVE LINE
LT: Dan Skipper
LG: Jalen Merrick(4* RS-FR)
C: Frank Ragnow
RG: Terrance Malone(3* JUCO) or Josh Allen(4* RS-FR) or Colton Jackson(4* RS-FR)
RT: Brian Wallace(4* RS-SO)
QUARTERBACK
4* Austin Allen
4* Ricky Town
4* Ty Storey
4* Rafe Peavey(possible transfer)
RUNNINGBACK
Rawleigh Williams III(259 yards, 56 carries, 4.5 ypc, 1 TD)
Kody Walker(410 yards, 90 carries, 4.4 ypc, 6 TD)
Devwah Whaley(#3 RB in nation)
Denzell Evans(6 carries, 49 yards, 8.0 ypc)
Juan Day(4 carry, 18 yards, 4.2 ypc)
My biggest question is who we put at the guard position next season. Is that where we insert Malone?

I still think Zach Rogers is going to be our center and Ragnow the emergency backup.

I would like to see:
LT: Wallace
LG: Merrick
C: Rogers
RG: Ragnow
RT: Skipper
LT: Wallace

RG: Ragnow
RT: Skipper

There is no way Skipper is going to LT. He's nowhere as agile as he was as a FR.
Maybe his footwork is naturally suited to the left side of the line, but I don't think he had a great year at all. His dumb penalties were down but he got beat a lot.
It'll likely be ?????? who knows, there's a new Oline coach, maybe Ragnow kicks out to tackle, maybe the kid from Conway blows up in the spring and summer, maybe Wallace gets it all together. Or maybe Anderson pulls some recruiting miracles and grabs a couple dudes that can come in and step into the role.
I'm excited to see what Anderson can do.

I have the same concern with Skipper, but right now I don't see putting a first year starter at the LT position, do you?

It's not like starting a true FR like OM will be doing. Wallace will have had two full years on campus at that point. He should be ready to take live reps now at this point.

It's been done before, but I'm not sure any of our guys are talented enough to do it. Hopefully B.Wallace is.
That's why I could see Ragnow kicking out to LT. Merrick and Allen are likely Guards. Pittman didn't recruit depth at tackle for shite.

Skipper was arguably our worst OL by the end of the year, and he was constantly getting worked by DEs. I'd rather take our chances with a newcomer than put him at LT.

Haven't other schools started true freshmen at LT? Surely our stud recruit that's had 2 full years in the program is capable. I've been pretty excited about getting to see Wallace play more.

Pretty sure Cam Robinson and CyKo both started as true freshmen.

What is holding Evans back? That's not bad production on 6 touches.

Devwah Whaley(#3 RB in nation)
he'll play day 1 and has the potential to be as good as AC was.
quote:
Juan Day(4 carry, 18 yards, 4.2 ypc)
he's been hamstrung by injuries but you gotta hope he can play.

Kody Walker(410 yards, 90 carries, 4.4 ypc, 6 TD)
he really shouldn't get touches beside in the 4th quarter. He's a great guy and I wish him the best but he's too damn slow to even be an effective power back half the time.

Rawleigh Williams III(259 yards, 56 carries, 4.5 ypc, 1 TD)
we could really use him coming back in a big way.

4* Austin Allen
4* Ricky Town
Qb battle will between these two and i'd be surprised if Austin wins. He may have more years under bert but has the same exposure to enos's style for the most part.

I unlike most in this thread like skipper and think he does a pretty good job. He's not the best in the world but he's a load and for the most part does his job, faster guys do tend to work him a bit when he's tired but he doesn't get bull rushed by anyone and running around him still take a long time even if you beat him. I think our oline will be fine next year though may take some time to gel.

I think Gibson will be our LT. he was the back up this year, not wallace. Wallace is a RT I'm afraid.
actually I'm completely unsure who the 5 will be outside of Frank and dan. we will put our best 5 out there, and make them fit however we can. idk who are our next 3 best guys are yet. Davenport said he will know in 2 weeks if we still have a shot with bolles or not.

Gibson and Wallace both played LT at various times this year when Kirkland was out.

I keep seeing people say that but I thought it was only Gibson and wallace took over RT. I must have missed it. either way. with a new O line coach I expect all jobs will be open for him to evaluate people.

Yea, I remember Wallace getting quite a few snaps this year in some games. He is going to be legit.
I am not worried about Wallace, Ragnow, and Skipper.

What makes you list him last and say he is a possible transfer? Out of the 4 QB's we have returning next season, Austin Allen is the only one we've really seen and it hasn't been much.

What makes you say this? He produced every time he got a chance to carry. If he can be a factor against LSU, he can be a factor against anyone. He's a grown arse man out there who is a load to bring down and has great cutting ability and speed for his size.

Not really. He gave it his best but there are clearly limitations there. He's good in the right situation bUT if he's our main guy we are fricked. I like his running when the defense is worn down in the 4th. I don't like his running when everyone is fresh in the first. I think a Stat breakdown would back me up on that as well.
