We've got to be competitive in all of the rest of the games, and knock off at least a couple (more would be better) to sell this program. Recruits have got to see that things may be down but definitely headed in right direction.

He has a very good chance of starting here next year, and I think we'll be much improved next year. Thinking 8-9 wins personally. Everyone knew this year was gonna be tough, surely even high school kids can understand this. By his senior year here would could be legit with a Sr. QB and stud RB's, solid D etc. Year 3 under BB should be a good one

Year 3 we could have
QB: B. Allen, A. Allen, Rafe Peavey, Duwop
RB: AC3, J Will, Evans, Holmes, Marshall
WR: Hatcher, Cornelius, Cowan, Hartfield, Hawkins, Mcbride, Morgan
TE: Henry, Sprinkle, Pierce, Gragg, Kraus
OT: Skipper, Eleumunor, Pruitt, ????
C/OG: Kirkland, Koehler, Boyd, Rogers(?), ????
That's a veteran and experienced offense.

Yes, it is. Right now I'm a little more nervous about defense though, specifically back 7.

Rumor that Shorter has reopened his recruitment.

How many linebackers are we currently targeting? That's one of our biggest issues and it doesn't look like it's going to get filled in with this class unless we sign about two more before the end of NSD.

Shorter says his recruitment is indeed open again.
From the article:
quote:
It depends on which coach is coming in. If Coach Brown leaves and they bring in another coach who I know and already offered me at another school, then I'd probably stay with Texas.
quote:
Among the names that have been thrown about as potential replacements for Brown at Texas, only Baylor and head coach Art Briles have offered Shorter

I love reading the headline and lead of the stories from the Ole Miss 24/7 site. Always sounds like a diehard fan wrote it. They have a shot with everyone on that site.

I mentioned on the rant last night that I had met Gene Stallings. He was in Waco with his daughter and son-in-law (a coach at SMU)to watch his granddaughter in a half time show. Very humble man; gracious to the masses of folks that wanted to meet him. I was very impressed.
I was able to turn the conversation to the Hogs when I was talking to the SMU coach(who had watched plenty of Arkansas/Rutgers film,) and Stallings (who is an SEC man through and through.)
Both of these coaches were appalled at how slow we are.
"There schemes are fine, and the coaches are well-respected, but I've never seen an Arkansas team that slow. Petrino left them nothing, which was no surprise to anyone in the college coaching world. It'll take a few years to pull that team together."
I sure hope we are getting some speed this year
