A pair of Arkansas lawmakers has filed legislation that would require the two football teams to meet up for one football game at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.

The bill by Republican Rep. Andy Mayberry of Hensley and Democratic Rep. Harold Copenhaver of Jonesboro would require at least $250,000 of the ticket sales from the game to go to charity.

I voted.

This is an embarrassment. We don't have to play ASU anymore than we have to play Jonesboro High School.

Today was the deadline to file bills at the capitol, there were about 500 bills filed and most will never see the light of day. Hopefully this is one of those.

Porker, you hit up Mullins computers and I'll go to Bell. Who's got the Union computer lab or Fayetteville Library?

It's really not that surprising since the legislature spent a lot of their time passing bills that will be deemed unconsitutional in court. This will cost AR taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars to defend something the they can't win.

I'm pretty sure all of the Arkansas legislature has downs syndrome.

I'm sure there are issues in Arkansas much more pressing than a college football match up.

Shouldn't stAte renew their rivalry with UCA first?

Play the game in Pine Bluff with 25% of ticket sales going to charity.

That would result in what, $37.50 worth of donations?

No idea, but you see stAte and UCA use to be huge rivals back in the day, then stAte moved up to the FBS level and UCA ended up in what is now the DII level with Tech and the majority of the other Arkansas schools.

stAte had quit playing them after UCA had almost won a game or won, do not remember the exact out come, one of the sugarbears would have to confirm, but the excuse, was "we can't play you, you guys are to many divisions below us now". stAte was what is now FCS until the 90s (why Arkansas never played them).

Long story short, UCA moves up to FCS level after being pretty good on the DII level for years (Tech was better) and go back to stAte, saying hey guys we can renew our rivalry and play you guys at your place or WMS to which stAte responds "No, you guys would need to be FBS, we can't be playing FCS schools".

Basically stAte is doing to UCA what they claim Arkansas has done to them all these years, 'cept they expected us to play them back in the 60s when stAte was barely DII with Tech and the rest of the schools.

This is why we don't play in state schools, we were the only D1 school in the state for a century.
