So, what you're saying is people get awards they don't necessarily deserve?

No, I'm saying he's worthy of the award...similar to Mark Ingram's Heisman trophy in 2009. As then, any of the finalists would've been worthy of the award. There was no single standout OL that stood head and shoulders above the others...declaring someone best is, and always has been, subjective...

Let's just subjectively agree to disagree. You can think he was the best offensive player in the SEC. And I'll think he wasn't the best offensive player on his own team and was very pedestrian as a QB.

I'll just be happy to see improvement in the right direction. I don't want another year of scheming around a QB that can't stretch the field.

You're in for a long season

I've been extremely critical of Jalen, but I'm starting to just accept who he is so I can enjoy the season.
I love watching good pocket passing, but Jalen will never be AJ McCarron back there. I think we just need to accept that Saban has opted to go for a running QB who can throw good passes on occasion, and just let the chips fall where they may

Yes, I'M stupid.
I agree. Name me a better season for a true freshman QB anywhere. You won't be able to. Here are hurts stats from last year, which won him sec offensive player of the year, 15 games, and in which he led what should have been the game winning drive in the national championship title game and accounted personally for 55% of our total offense.

240/382, 2780 yards, 62.8%, 23 TDS 9 ints
191 carries for 954 yards, 13 tds

Oh fu*k off with this bullshite

And just like "if" our receivers caught every pass that he threw against FSU, and "if" we didn't hold on that one play, Jalen would've looked like a Heisman frontrunner

I thought we were talkin' 'bout Cam Robinson...

As for Hurts, thought he played well for a true freshman last year but he struggled as a passer, especially against good defenses...thought he looked much better throwing the ball on A-Day and again against FSU, when he had time, especially his touch on the long ball. I'll have to wait and see if he's improved on reading defenses for a game where the rushers aren't steadily coming in untouched...

You're that guy that spouted statistical nonsense all last season aren't you?

1. I don't give a single frick how his stats compare to any other freshman. Compare him to good QB's. We're not trying to win a freshman national championship. We're trying to win a real one.

2. If Hurts had played for any other team, you'd be fully aware how very unspectacular he was. Without the playcalling to mask his deficiencies, or the benefit of having the most talent around him of any QB in the country, he would have looked much worse.

I think Saban has been obsessed with finding a true mobile quarterback. As a defensive minded coach, his view is that it brings another dimension to the offense and creates mismatches and other dynamics that are hard to defend. With that in mind, he went with Hurts. Jalen certainly brings all the other aspects at the position that you would want. Mobility, poise, and good decision making. I assume Saban, Kiffin, and now Daboll think he can develop the passing skills.

Not to mention that none of the other three QBs that transferred are starting at their new schools...not saying they aren't good QBs just that none of 'em stood out enough to supplant Hurts...nor did they impress enough to surpass the QBs at schools which most would say had lesser talent...

Then you are an unreasonable piece of shite. I guess every college QB is terrible because they are not as good as mid 2000s Tom Brady regardless of circumstances. Seriously, kill yourself

Pure unreasoned histrionic negabammer horseshite. You are a terrible poster and should be ashamed.

Man, those passing stats from last year have been hashed out time and again. A great lot of and I'm pretty sure the majority of his passing yards were jet sweeps and screen passes. Where he failed were the intermediate to long throws and you have to have a semblance of a downfield passing game to win the big games against great defenses. He was miserable vs Clemson and we lost a national title. Only 2 series more than 5 plays. The defense got 2 turnovers on Clemson's side of the field and the offense managed 3 points for it, primarily because our passing game was nil.

Hurts won the OPOY last year because he was the most prolific offensive player on the team that was far better than any other SEC team.

Last year regular season

I've seen Kiffin and now Daboll blamed, the offensive line blamed, even the receivers blamed, and now the last day or so, I even saw Scarbrough blamed, all for making Hurts look bad. It's everybody's fault but the guy passing the ball, or about as often as not, keeping the ball or throwing it to the sidelines.

and I've seen hurts blamed for not passing into the middle of the field despite those passes not being called/or him having to run for his life from a fantastic pass rush or do the smart thing and throw it away if nothing open. We get it, you don't like hurts

Why shouldn't they be blamed? They're offensive coordinators and, according to you, they both selected a bad QB as their starter...

Why, do you suppose, do the coaches rarely call those crossing routes over the middle? If the defense knows the opposing coaches don't trust their qb on those routes, that cuts the field way down that they have to defend.

I don't know Hurt, so I don't like or dislike him. If he ever learns to read defenses, throw catchable balls in the intermediate to long field, can check down to secondary receivers, and not freak out and take off or throw out of bounds, then I'll like him at qb at UA.

Hurts looked "average" at best.

Bo didn't impress me....except for 1 run where he hit the hole wide open for short yardage gain and a 1st down.

D. Harris looked sharp and ran hard.

OL had its moments but still was getting their shite pushed in. I'm sure they will improve as the season goes on so not really concerned with the group.

WR caught the ball (when targeted) and no drops. Only ball that I would consider catchable was the ball thrown to 11? in the endzone and he short armed it.

Kicker sucks arse. Wish Bama would offer dodge chargers for a good, decent kicker.

D is good

Do you all remember that ferocious Washington pass rush that held Jalen to 57 passing yards?

I hope we don't see them again either

Is that the same defense that had 4 players drafted last year?
